Lake Bled, Slovenia: Exploring a Dictator's Villa

This lakeside villa was once the summer residence for the Yugoslav royal family. Post-WWII, when Tito ran Yugoslavia with his unique style of Communism called the Third Way, he entertained international guests here. Today it's a classy hotel and restaurant, and nostalgic Tito sympathizers can send an email from his desk, sip tea in his lounge, and gaze upon his Socialist Realist wall murals in the ballroom. I think Vila Bled has many beautiful spots to show, that aren't as political. Why focus on the past when you can show the best of present? After all, Vila Bled has a history before Tito.

Tito. Leader of most successful anti fascist movement in Europe. Great man and a true hero. This is how he will be remembered; )
