I truly like the premise of the belt and the hat. It has a unconscious awareness about itself and I'm not sure I use those words in the correct way. But you are wearing a belt that has necessities in it and you don't think about the weight which I'm sure is not much, I did like the hat but I kind of feel that that patch in front of the hat would carry some weight to it. That might cause the beak to sloop down and cover your eyes. But the patch itself I like because you can velcro it onto a backpack. Maybe make the patch with the kit inside with both sides of the velcro one to the patch and one you can either adhesive do a backpack and if it loses its adhesiveness you can eventually sew it to the backpack. And you can sell them as two patches one carrying the original content and the second patch would have the other content that was under the inner top of the hat. I think they need to add a form of whistle in some form of mirror that can be use add a signal device on nice sunny days.

Mike I do enjoy your videos, however, I can not understand one or two things, you have an axe a knife and yet when you do your raised beds you make no effort to then make your raised bed more comfortable, like getting rid of any lumps or bumps so you can have a better nights sleep also Hygiene for clothes, I know you are only out for a day or so but what happens if you are stuck out for a week or so, where is the clothes hangers to air the clothes you have washed and repaired and what is the best replacement clothes to replace your smelly ones with, IE are the clothes easy to repair, wash, repel ticks bugs and other kind of snuggle up things in the night, repairs for boots and yes I do know you have done alternate footwear, just thought by now you would be thinking a bit more about your international viewers, this is not a criticism, I am old and would love to see what your father Grahame would be like using your technieks now that would be a video I would save. It should be noted that the purpose of these kits is only as a last ditch. They are only meant as a back-up to the more substantial kit you may carry on your pack. They function the same as an altoids kit in that regard. Basically so you have some kit on your person in case you are somehow seperated from your pack. (One situation being a river crossing gone bad)
Someone without substantial training and experience shouldn't rely on those items as their only survival kit.

I love your work, man. Always a pleasure.
P. s. I make bannocks when I camp or take long journeys, and traditionally (as far as I’m aware, obviously I’m limited to my experiences) I’ve known them to be made as an oat cake of sorts. Every recipe I’ve ever used has included oat flour mixed with all purpose or whole wheat, and rolled oats cooked in a griddle sized for the bannock. I imagine using AP flour alone probably tastes quite a bit better though.

Looks like a great bit of kit, ive got one of those utilikeys it's been a EDC for the past 20 years, I just keep it on my car/house keys. Has helped me out many times. Not sure having matches and magnesium powder around my waist is a great idea tho possibly open to a big damage claim if anything goes wrong, possibly worth rethinking if its worth the risk having those two items in a belt.

Good alternative use of a money belt. I have one. Didn't think of using it for that. If you can't get magnesium powder you can make an alternative using aluminum. just some old pipe and fire up the bench grinder or take the time use a file. Won't burn quite as hot, but still burns hit enough and bright enough it will make you squint.

If the belt maker is watching, it might be worth experimenting with inverting it. It seems like it would be fine to wear for a half hour but a full day of sit-stand-climb-hill action could make it rub a lot on your hips. That wouldn't be a big deal if the smooth side rested against your torso and all the stuff was outside.

While I'm not in the market for this type of product myself, I do hope their company does really well because this is a brilliant idea presented with a well thought-out kit for a very reasonable price. Also love the father/son business, gives the kid an option to be his own boss if they do well right after school!

In a pinch, that belt could save your life and make a huge difference. Love the idea that it's essentially build as an EDC, super low profile. How's it feel as a belt, though Could you conceivably just wear this as your belt without noticing a real difference Or are the items inside bulky enough to be uncomfortable

One of my friend (from the Cree nation, told me that when they were going hunting for few days, they prepared bannok (bannique in french) in advance for the trip and added animal fat along with either berries and honey or fried meat/fat and spices (somtimes they used or mixed with corn flour and/or ground roots.

Unless this is just something you'd wear everyday in case of emergency, i don't see any practical application for this product. It's a fun idea but i would never take that out on a backpacking trip. Loading anything back into that belt looks like a headache that isn't worth having.

Shelter has come right along. In light of the survival belt. How does it wear I did duty belts for 31 years and being able to work in one for up to sixteen hours straight. comfort, is not an option.
Good video!

Been wearing one of those belts for a few years. love it. but the first thing I did was cut a piece of paracord to use as a belt and tuck it so it's the first thing to come out. because. my pants fall down without a belt!

That belt and hat are hilarious, they're the sort of thing JML would make,
You know the stuff, like putting a radio on a mop, a small tv screen on your trainers, a compass on your pen, or a torch on a coffee mug.

I live 1/2 mile from the Bannock tribe here in Idaho USA, they also like to fry it, if you deep fry it and fill
It with taco stuff, it’s an amazing meal. Honey and jam is also good. Just a thought.

3: 22 People joke about bottle openers being so abundant in these packs, but a bottle opener in a survival situation becomes a hook for applying leverage in a tiny place. or. a hole punch.

use 2 spits and spread open the chicken on your perpendicular pins. lash the spits together, pinching the chicken between. the smoke will get in deeper and it will cook faster

Presumably your camp will stay there all year, why don't you grab some potatoes and stick them in the ground near your camp and see if you get any spuds from it in the autumn
