We need to make it possible again for young people to have the satisfaction of building their own home by the time they're 30, or this will get worse and worse.
It's also a lack of fathers like yours. Either kids have no fathers at all anymore or useless ones that never do anything with their sons, never build anything together, never make them feel how great it is to build something together. That's why this crap happens. No kid that had a father like yours that build tree houses, or anything really, together, would ever do something like this.

I'm so sorry guys, you worked so hard to put all this together and I am sure you would not have minded people using the area if they were to respect it and leave it as they found it, to leave no trace is an alien concept to some people.
On the up side they could have done much worse and you and your dad responded graciously to the petty vandalism and now you will get to spend even more quality time together restoring it back to it's serenity.
Please do not dwell for too long on why people choose to do such things there could be many reasons Jealousy, envy, low IQ'S, lack of respect for people, places and nature, spite, etc.
Disturbed people create disturbances & hurt people hurt people.
The continuing evolution of the human mind and spirit is a beautiful phenomenal wonder!
Continue to lead as a good example, it is how we respond that sets us apart from those who react.

So sorry you had to find it in that state chaps. As others have said I suppose it's done well to get away with it this long. I can feel a rant coming on about the youth of today but I haven't got time. I just can not understand what fun they can get out of destroying something so obviously carefully constructed in somebody's own hand. What is so enjoyable about destruction!
Ok better stop, I'm glad you salvaged it and I'm sorry so much of your work was lost. Sadly you'll have to check it regularly now the little s# ts know where it is. I wouldn't be responsible for at least the state of their 'ear'oles let alone their backsides if I caught 'em I can tell you!

My respect for staying so cool about all the destruction. I really hope, that you will transport your great little stove to your own woodland. If possible, all the stuff (including the buildings) should be transferred so that they are a bit safer than on this property. I would absolutely love to see this happen.
2) Maaaan, I definitely hate this kind of totally unnecessary, senseless vandalism. Those people are simply dumb brazenly and highly aggressive. Nowadays unfortunately lots and lots of them existing in this world.

Usually this is result of some drinking party which goes out of hand and then they start to smash things without any logical reason.
I have a small NGO with the purpose of renovating old log cabins in my country which serve as bothies for hikers and we found out that it is completely useless to lock any part of it because intruders cause more damage just by breaking in than by stealing anything.
Stay strong and keep going.

Theres alot of shitbags unfortunately, ive gone to shelters some ive made some that were already made which get trashed.
The worst case of it was an open cabin anyone could go into with available binbags, but someone smashed all the windows and tipped a can of paint onto patio stones someone had laid at the front. Leaving a bong on the tabe and took most of furniture away, not to mention rubbish scatterd everywhere.

This is not surprising. It is illegal as it's vandalism, and destruction of private property, but I knew lots of people growing up that loved to destroy the hard work of other people. They stole from their friends, and think it's funny. Don't be surprised if there are people who live near you that are jealous of what you have, or just hate for no reason. It is the world we live in, and it's not getting better.

Gutted for you Mike. You were really good handling this though to be fair. I've made a 2 story shelter in a woodland on the outskirts of Cardiff and its been there for 2 years untouched. Every time I go there I have a feeling of dread that this could of happened to me. People have no idea the efforts we put in to create these beautiful places. Chin up guys

One time somebody broke into my car and stole all the change out of my center console. And honestly I wasn't mad, like if you are so bad off you need to steal change, just take it, mate. But being a destructive jerk just for the sake of it REALLY bothers me. Unless they were dumb enough to think a hut in the woods would have valuable things in it

My camp got trashed a few times during the lockdowns.
Luckily the shelters were left alone but the surrounding area was a total mess.
Rubbish everywhere and trees cut down.

Your false autumn is like one we had a few years ago. It was weird to see the trees turn brown and drop their leaves in July. It then the rains came in august and the trees leafed out again so we had two autumns that year.

I do recall expressing some concern about securing the builds with motion detection cameras etc, that send an alert to a mobile phone, I guess it was more to do with the more visible permanent builds rather than low profile bushcraft. Unfortunately, once the area gets known by others to obtain such structures, world will get around
