lovesick
i was planning on moving into an off-grid home with a good friend of mine in a couple years, and your videos have been so inspiring i love the idea of basically just having fun and doing what you want, and of course the carpentry skill is lacking and insulation isnt the best, but its a functioning cabin (although a bit small. the weather is also something im more used to so it shows more accurately what you can and cannot do in a rather rugged, but managable climate. over all, thank you two so much for sharing this process with us, and im looking forward to see what you do with it in the future (sorry for not capitalizing letters im just lazy)

Why don't you build another cabin for your dad, I think it would be so cool if the both of you's had one of your own. Really love what you have done. It's such an awesome plan to do it all for free. I can just see my boyfriend doing this, as he is a carpenter by trade. I just know he would be in his own glory making his own man cave in the woods behind our home. Please keep the video's coming. I so have been enjoying everyone of them. I can tell your all such a loving family with lots of love, caring and alot of humor between the both of you's. So long for now, until then next time this is Diane from up state New York. Happy Trails.

I know I'm only watching like a year down the track, but am absolutely hooked on your series of videos. Love the relationship between the two of you and the very obvious enthusiasm around the project and how it has evolved. Couple of questions for you: 1. How far do you trek all the tools and timber from the car? 2. Do you own the land where you've built your cabin? 3. Where do you get your water from - a nearby river or do you bring it with you? 4. Toilet facilities. so maybe more that a couple of questions. Great project, peaceful entertainment for me. Thank you guys and be blessedRegards from South AfricaMark

This is the video that made me finally decide to not react to negative comments on YouTube, or anywhere for that matter from now on. I don't know why this particular video did it for me, but I'm tired of hating on negative people. The haters can continue to hate, but I'm not to give in to it. Life is too short to buy in to negativity. You and your Dad keep on dong what you're donig, and I'll continue watching without any hate for others in my heart. It's time for me to move on from that and be a happier person. Thank you for helping me see past the hate. :) Boy, I used the word hate a lot in this post, didn't I? :D

Can I suggest a rainwater filter/catcher? Uses a barrel of sand, coal, & stones to filter incoming water, with a sort of funnel/ pipe system into other barrels below to catch and filter water. Not sure exactly how effective it would be, but I can certainly look up more if you like, and I think that between the two of you, finding a way to make a setup is well within your know-how. Message me if you'd like me to look up some reference information for the system. Can't remember where I read about it, but I reckon I can find the source again if you'd like.

From a perspective of a woman, I am extremely excited to see how much you accomplished daily and if the cabin was wider and longer a husband and wife could survive in this but even if it were bigger how do think they did this back in the day and where would they have slept before getting this house done. Modern tools helped. I was surprised that you guys didn't use a chain saw unless you didn't want to get heard as much. Papas you and your son are hard worker and I give you a big BRAVO for now and what's yet to come.

Brilliant project gents from start to finish. Really enjoyed it, Im from the New forest and work in Iraq. I so miss the forest suck out here. Idea, small solar panel, not sure if possible with current canopy connected to a leisure battery for LED lighting, power tool charging, power banks. Rain water collection system to save humping supplies in, could even add some pipe and have it heated via the G stove and run under the bed pumped via a 12v solar pond pump. If not install a tap for water on demand. All the best.

You are both fantastic and think it's absolutely wonderful that you are both doing this project together and we really do see and feel the camaraderie and love between the two of you. It reminds me of my family. I have watched every episode of this Pallet Cabin series so far and even watched it with my 4 & 5 year old kids (I am a Nanny) and they love it, or course now they want to build it too lol. Keep up the great work, take care and I look forward to your follow up videos. Sincerely, Donna.

Noticed the small gap running top to bottom on the back wall of the cabin, why dont you nail 2 or 3 pieces on the outside, vertical overlapping the gap, all so to cover the 5 holes in the roof created by the notches on the tin panels, use a (wide) length of plank wood and cut the notches out on the wood making sure you leave abit and then nail it on the outside so it will look quite decretive as well, I hope this makes sense, if not Im sure you boys will come up with something genius

You guys are quite amazing. Your pallet wood is somewhat better than what I can find at the present in the US. When I lived overseas, I used pallet wood to build myself a really proper deck outside of my rental house. Almost all of the wood was discards. I used concrete to set the posts into the ground and then used red stain to finish it off. Took my friend and I numerous nights (drinking beer of course) to finish off the project. I was so amazed it came out so good.
