I head off Fishing with my Dad to try and catch the Giant Catfish that lurk in a tiny pond here in the UK. The Wels catfish can grow to monster sizes in parts of Europe. The River Monsters are usually found on the famous river Ebro in Spain as well as various rivers in Italy and other countries in Europe. But in the UK, they are found in various still water ponds and lakes. Pond Fishing is really popular in the UK, so I head out with Dad for a day fishing. We show you the rigs and gear that we use to catch catfish. They can be caught on both bait and lures. Learning how to catch catfish is not complicated. Dad even uses some Bushcraft to put a rig together Hope you guys enjoy the vid and

Those were some big ol Catfish ya got there Great video Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. As far as recipes, filet those bad boys, chunk them up, and its all about cornmeal, and your favorite cajun spice. Im a big fan of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. Give them a good deep fat fry till golden brown, a little lemon wedge, and some tarter sauce. Cant go wrong Wish me luck, im heading out in the morning to set up camp along my favorite stream. Some early spring (in da U. P. its still early) daytime brook trout fishing, but at night, ill bust out the waders and dip net some Smelt The Smelt are spawning right now, and we catch them one five gallon bucket full at a time. Great stuff again guys. Congrats on your new PB Mike

We do have a recipe for carp over here. Once you have your fish youll need: an oak plank, dont laugh, we BBQ salmon here in Alaska on cedar planks; find a source of strained river mud, you might want to rinse it slightly. But be careful you dont wash it all away. Let is dry to a consistency of clay. In the meantime once youve cleaned your fish, give it a rub with your favorite spices. Lightly oil the plank so the fish wont stick. Be sure your oven is a 375F. Place the fish on the board and pack the mud around it. Now put the whole thing in the oven for 50-785 min depending on the size of your fish. When its done, take it out. Scrape everything off the plank. Throw is all away and eat the board.

Fave cooking method: get a 3-4 kg wells cat or Zander or Perch, gut it right on the spot bit of flower and and egg, toss it in the frying pan right there on the spot. you will eat your fingers right there on the spot 100% If not come to me, and comment BS ( p. s. prefably get a cat or from a very crystal clear water with a rocky bottom as it might be have a very muddy smell to it that some people fancy most don't but it's a bottom feeder so. bare it in mind, Zander doesn't suffer from this ) If you don't have egg and flower, bit of oil and to fry it will work just as well: ) You can thank me later: )

Looking forward to seeing the episode where you & Dad go noodling for giant cats here in Texas. Used to live in the UK. Newcastle actually, & never imagined there are catfish there. We use bells on the end of the fishing poles, especially at night. Loved your video of the big ass fish. Favorite catfish recipes are fried fillets in cornmeal (trim the fat lines & blood lines off to eliminate the fishy smell/taste. also Cajun blackened catfish (Tony Cacheres cajun seasoning on both sides, blacken sear in screaming hot iron skillet in butter on wood grills or gas grills with wood smoke. Thanks

I love your videos. The tips are useful. Some I can even remember from youth, such as washing up liquid bottle tops for bite indicators, freelining and lead making etc. I like your simplicity and common sense approach and your experiments. I even managed to catch a couple of carp using your suggestion of jelly babies Mostly though I love your sense of humour and the obvious father\son rapport. You videos are always well produced and I look forward to them each week.

American catfish details below: Awesome vid. Was stoked when the Instagram vid come out. My favorite Brits In the Southern US, catfish is almost exclusively battered in a corn meal base and deep fried in oil with fries (chips, hush puppies, etc. It's also blackened, but catfish isn't very good blackened, IMO. There are areas that people won't dive here due to the size of catfish which can sometimes be so deep they're totally white in color particularly near dams.

If you do eat a catfish, make it a small one You are correct about the big ones not tasting very good. My family likes a seasoning called zatarans southern crispy, bread it in that and then fry it up in peanut oil. I personally favor bluegill when it comes to eating fish but they also work great as a catfish bait. Use the bluegill heads and hook them through the eyes and it won't come off your hook Great video.

I loved catching the Wells catfish when I was stationed in the US Army in Italy back in the early '90s. I heard that a guy in Italy caught a 280 lb one a few years back. Wow They are fun to catch for sure. I also learned to properly fish for Carp while I was living there. Here in the States, people laugh when I fish for Carp. too bad for them. Carp are not easy to catch either Thanks for the fishing video.

Avid US carp fisherman here. We are a small group but we are dedicated. There are more carp fishermen here in the US like me than one might think. We even have tench over here in some areas of the country although they are considered invasive and normally see the business end of an arrow unfortunately. I do wish we had wells catfish here. Would be awesome to catch them.

Where I am we can get trout, bass, pike, walleye, perch, salmon, various panfish within an hour's drive Your Wells was massive Looks like wonderful fun. Pretty hardy fish and tolerate catch and release fine. Great video
