Bushcraft Day Camp in the Woods with a Canvas Poncho Tent

I head out into the woods alone for a Bushcraft Day Camp using my Canvas Poncho Tent. This time I use half the poncho to make the shelter with a stick as a centre pole. I forage for natural fire lighting materials (tinder) and get a fire going using flint and steel. I fry some fresh food on the firebox twig stove. Later in the day I light a fire using a primitive bowdrill (friction fire) and chill out in the shelter listening to the nature asmr and enjoying time alone in the woods

Great video Mike. I'm glad you got a chance to go out for a day trip and clear your head. We all need some quiet time here and there. We know you work very hard, and we appreciate it. I've got a lot of great ideas from you that I've put in my repertoire now. I'm glad to here the pup is on the mend. The foraging and gathering section was great. I also liked the fire making sections. Flint and steel, bow drill. Good stuff. I think focusing on the details of the little things is great. Sometimes we miss the little in between parts, and nuances of the processes that make the difference between success and error. Unrelated, I know you enjoy your fjallraven pants. They seem to be a staple in bushcrafting. Have you ever seen Duluth Trading Company firehose pants? I highly recommend them. Very very sturdy, very comfortable, with many useful pockets and features. Check them out I think you would like them. Anyways, keep up the good work. We enjoy and appreciate it.

love the content. Random facts I found out today that may be useful(Let me know if you find evidence to the contrary)- Sucking venom from a bite wound will only do harm. Venom will already be in the bloodstream and your mouth might only add bacteria to the site. - If you get lost in the wilderness dont make finding food your first priority. Most people depending on starting point can survive around a month or more without food. WATER and SHELTER is first priority( or weapons. I like those)- Drinking water straight from a cactus is likely to make you vomit and become dehydrated faster. There is certain cactus that you can extract and filter water from but you have to know how. - Moss doesnt grow on the north side of trees it can grow on any side (sorry if its an obvious one)- Just because an animal can eat it doesnt mean you can. Some things like certain berries and mushrooms can be eaten by some animals but fatal for humans

You are one of the best on youtube brother. just keep doing as you are doing. You spice it up as you know you can and its a great variety you offer. You have one of the most wonderful collections of videos and topics out there. Thanks for the hard work and dedication, I know what its like to put in the hours and people not appreciate it or understand what it takes. One of my pages currently has 2. 8 million subs maybe we can collaborate sometime, Im definitely going start promoting you on my pages here soon in a new series I have coming out. Joe Robinet was how I learned about you and Im glad he promoted your page way back when. You guys have taken the title of my 2 top favorite guys to watch for this genre. PS. I'd like to see you try a bedroll (cowboy style, or early Australian canvas swag bedroll ) to see how you fare. Wouldn't weigh more than the Lavuu tent or half of it. Wouldn't suit you for winter but as it's summer you could give it a go. Or try some more vintage style arrangements as you were talking about liking the traditional/ vintage styles of gear. Be interested to see what you could whittle your kit down to, taking just the bare essentials you need.

Dont ever apologies for not having perfect videos, we understand that you have a life outside of youtube. They're already amazing. Also, bush-craft, camping, fishing, and these outdoor activities are normally full day-trips. The fact that you're able to produce high quality videos so often, while still managing your family is beyond me. Keep up the good work man: )also sorry to hear about your dog, I hope he makes it through it

A canvas tent is a lot more robust than a synthetic tent, so it would be be for long adventures to more untamed places of the world, also quick question when you are camping without a mosquito net how do you keep the bugs out? I just recently spent the night in my lean-to at my bushcaft camp with my friend and he only had a tarp shelter, so we were wondering how we could keep the bugs out. Thanks and keep up the videos.

Oh, NO, poor Jaxx We luv you little guy. hope all went well with your gum/mouth surgery. JRTs are such characters and get into everything. so curious. Too curious, sometimes, and get into some bad things. He's almost out of his puppy stage (JRTs don't grow out of being a puppy for two years, so adult Jaxx should be on the upswing. Sure hope so Good thoughts your way, too, Mike. Our dogs are like our kids, huh?

I am not English but your show is bloody good mate Blimy I think I will watch anotherDont feel so bad about the beard. I am from south America heritage and well I am 51 and I have never even had a stubble of a beard come through, Genetics I guess. Anyhow you used a piece of carbon to start your fire what was it exactly and how do you get that Ahead of time to store for a later fire? Mate

Great videos I was hoping to know where it is that you choose to make camp? National Forests? Parks? Private land? I would love to do the same, but I am a bit confused if it is legal in my area. Another question: What do you do in case of an animal attack? Are there animals in your area? I would greatly appreciate whatever information you can give. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
