I could spend much longer than 100 days but would have to have 2 firearms as part of my list of 10. Including a lever action rifle in. 44 magnum as well as a revolver also in. 44 magnum(plus 200 rounds of ammunition. This would be for protection from bears, wolves, wolverine, cougar and food procurement from Moose, deer, elk, bison etc. I would NEVER go into bear infested territory like they did on the first season of Alone without firearms PERIOD. If a Large brown bear or god forbid a Kodiak bear were to get a hold of me. By the time the crew got to me with their Bear Spray I would definitely be dead and possibly half eaten.
so my list of 10 would be this
1. Winchester 1892 Deluxe Octagon lever action rifle in. 44 magnum. including leather sling and possibly optics(hunting scope)
2. Ruger 5044 Redhawk revolver in. 44 magnum (including 4 boxes of ammo, 200 rounds)including leather holster
3 Ka-bar BK7 knife w/sheath, sharpening stone and belt
4. Large cooking pot with lid 6 quarts or larger.
5. Forest axe w/ sheath and Lansky sharpening puck
6. 300' 550 para-cord
7. Military sleep system 0 degree sleeping bag including bivy and water proof cover
8. 12x12 heavy duty waterproof tarp in Multi terrain pattern
9. Full sized first aid kit with meds include(meds: anti diarrhea meds, antibiotics and pain relievers)
10. 1/2 in wide by 6 inch long ferrocerium rod.
not on the list of 10 but included would be clothing worn which would consist of the following
1. thermal underwear top and bottom
2. 2 pairs of thick wool socks
3. heavy duty canvas pants treated with bees wax, linseed oil and turpentine aka Tin Pants.
4. heavy duty military shirt in Multi terrain pattern
5. heavy duty canvas or nylon military belt
6. All Wool combat sweater
7. heavy duty combat Parka made of Gortex with removable wool or fleece liner. in Multi terrain pattern
8. Wool Watch cap(beanie)
9. Military boonie hat. in Multi terrain pattern
10. Swagman poncho roll (rain poncho) by Helikon. in Multi terrain pattern
No food would be required as I can easily find this in the wild.
Oh and to carry it all I would use a British military Bergen. I'm an American and while the Alice pack is damn good the British special ops Bergen is IMO far superior. Probably the 22SAS field pack bergen that was recently replaced by the Mystery Ranch Bergen.

I've added this video to my survival playlist. I hope it comes in helpful for people who take the incentive to learn to walk away from the system. I applied for a spot in the alone challenge. Thank you for the link. I was already planning on doing the very thing that they are challenging people to survive. Currently I'm sitting on 2. 75 acres in Northeast Oklahoma off-grid and I am forcing myself to wean myself off of this system completely. It is a long process but with videos like yours I will get there. Right now I'm in a camper that has mold in it and the bathroom tore out. I finally got a vehicle that runs but it's old. My power comes from a 12 volt battery in the vehicle and my water is toted in on a trailer in a container. I was on the verge of going down to the creek and pitching a tent until I got a slight break through. I'm studying all the plants around me and have discovered many of them for food and medicine at this point. Trying to perfect my hunting skills but need major Improvement. Don't have much to work with. Still going to the store to get some food but it is seriously Limited. I sit here all month by myself. It gets lonely sometimes but all I have to do is go into town and I can't wait to get back here. The ticks and the mosquitoes are the worst part. Also mice in the camper. Been learning what works and what doesn't from the plants around me for these issues and have had some success. Still got a lot to learn but I hope the producers of this show give me a chance because the environment they want to put people in is the same environment I'm going to eventually put myself in. I'm walking away from this system because I'm not about to put a chip in my hand. My emotions or my declarations do not change that. My actions however do. I don't have any other choice. I was homeless for 5 years so I know I can do this because I did it with much less. When you have no other options you stop drawing lines and you start realizing What You're Made Of real fast.

My record for wilderness survival is 217 days. It was done in south American jungle over a hundred miles from the nearest sign of civilization. In the back woods of alaska i did a solo camp for 176 days. It is not as hard as some people think. If you know what you are doing you can survive almost anywhere and you can actually live failry comfortably in the wildness. My uncle went to the wilderness to get away from civilization and has lived out in the wild for over 20 years. The cabin he built by hand using hand tools is actually pretty nice.

I would not do the 100 days thing. they set people up in my opinion for entertainment. People that are really good had difficulty doing that. If your life was at stake and you didn't have Hollywood or wanna bes or just somebody that is sadistic throwing the wrench under your feet, there is a better chance of making it. Probably feed the bears chum. no way. lose the funders. Don't do it, if you are thinking about it.

Find an established trail to your water source and go to a muddy bank and look at the footprints to see who the neighbors are so you can build a proper defense against the predators. In our woods, there are Bear Wolves and Coyotes Bob Cats. Fortunately, we are too cold for snakes but there are parts where they are many and deadly. So you might want to create a weapon like a spear before building a shelter.

Love your videos and your workmanship and SKILLS level! You are truly amazing and the way you know your ancestry and the way they lived is truly important thing everyone should know but most sadly dont. Thank you from a outdoorsman from Tennessee.

11: 42 - no cordage for a bow drill?
unless you're wearing loafers, cowboy boots or moccasins I think I see the solution right there on screen.
you've got about 3 feet of cordage about 4 inches from your hand drill!
; -)

I never hear anyone mention what the properties need to be of the wood used for a spindle and hearth board. Does the spindle need to be harder than the hearth board or visa versa or the same?
