Join me on a solo overnight camping trip in a bushcraft shelter. Skillshare: I build a raised bed, keep warm by the long fire pit and enjoy an early winter camping night under the moss roof bushcraft viking house. In this first overnight in the viking shelter I cook meat over the grill on the fire. Temperatures got down to 3 degrees Celcius with heavy rain in the morning. Coop: Glad to see you out camping again, I just love these type of videos from you. Come to think of it all your videos are very high quality and very entertaining to watch as well as informative. Keep up the great work can't wait for the final chapter of the bunker series. Good on you and hello from Michigan USA.

next time you go out take a large metal container and collect all the woodash and water mix boil for an hour and let it simmer for most of the day. You are making lye water its a good fungicide, once cool pour it over the fungus, it should kill it. Dont be tempted to dig it up as the spores will go everywhere. To prevent it happening again use old ash on the floor surface. To test if the lye water is at the correct consistency drop a fresh egg in the solution if it floats its ready.

Scotch Eggs are Marvelous! Classic Pub Food in the US in days gone bye when 'free lunch' was offered along with the purchase of a big beverage! I am accumulating 'new age' basic gear with the idea of 'showing the ropes' to my 7 year-old twin grandchildren: primitive fire starting; today's better pans; folding stoves. next Spring! A-Frame designs not only waste space, they seem to wick moisture up more than if a vertical wall supported the structure.

SO-Oh: even bushcraft bed boards need airing! Perhaps a small fire inside once in a while would help with the moisture control? Getting the logs farther from the moss roofing could work wonders. Fine to see what might happen with the changes. Best Holiday Wishes to You, Your Family, Your Dad and to Dustin! Back in the Day, we had wire grills just like that and the wires twisted and sagged just like that. and things still worked.

Great to see things are pretty relaxed, and cool. It's 38 degrees Celsius here in Australia and over the next month or two it will get another 10 degrees more. Would be nice to be somewhere cooler. Enjoy the camping when you can for yourself and also those of us who are busy on the farm and don't have the chance at the moment. Love the shelter. Thanks for your vid: -)

You forget, Jax got on that roof, too, and wouldn't stop. You could use the lean-to shelter as a tool shed, put the chair in there and your saw horse and maybe a small pile of wood for your next visit. I thought wood ash was the go to cleaner or that just for cast iron? Anyway, I wish I could be outdoorsy, it looks so calming. Thanks for the vid.

When my grandmother was a kid, she used to go with her grandfather to collect sphagnum moss that was sent off to be used as wound dressings in WWI so it's pretty hygienic as a pot cleaner.
