Nice to see a video about The Standard here. We stayed there in 2009, just when The High Line opened. Loved it there, but the floor to ceiling windows took some getting used to. According to legend, some guests 'exposed' a bit more than allowed for people on the street to see At that time I was creative director for an international project than ran for 5 years and the photo shoots always took place in NYC and LA. The company invited us to a different cool hotel every year; the others included the Hotel on Rivington and The Maritime (which had a great Japanese restaurant on site. Both are also interesting for a video I think.

Dear luxury travel expert. Normally you visit the greatest Hotels in city or island has to offer. But when you come to New York you only visit hotels that are far away from world class. Only one time with aman new york you did world class hotel there too. New York has to offer Many world class hotels that earned five star Awards bei Forbes travelguide. For example mandarin oriental a brand you like too. St. Regis, four seasons hotel the mark and so on. Why you never visit one of them Hotels really are world class I am disappointed and hope you will do one day.

Wow. this is really cool, because I stayed in this Hotel back in 2009. It's a really fancy and modern place. I had a room with the bed facing directly to the Hudson River which was fantastic, because I'd wake up in the morning, with the wonderful view over the River. Right behind the bed was the tiny bathroom which somehow didn't appear that small. We went there for an extended weekend with my dad over his birthday. Thank you for that review.

The noise, the not very nice hotel and New York, they somehow belong together. But it was never the charm that attracted me. Although we've been to NY many times at Christmas, it's just not the city I prefer. Thanks for the new exciting video. I would like to know how warm these little mini rooms are. Because this window front is a climatic disaster and without air conditioning, I think it's almost unsightly, right

Oh, my old hometown! Just two comments and questions if you please: (1) Are the rooms quiet That is, no noise pollution from subway lines, or the street traffic noise down below And, (2) it’s nice to know that the LUXURY travel expert allows himself to stay in a tiny room from time to time! Well done, Sir! Hope you thoroughly enjoyed your recent stay in NYC!

Finally another city hotel. I've been terribly bored by all the resorts. but I still watch every one because your videos are so beautiful. You move the camera slowly, your editing is beautiful, you always show cielings, and you don't talk all the time. Your videos all feel like a vacation.
You are the best!

Location of the hotel iconic, room design is ideally recognisable (saw it even in several movies for adults, despite view - everything else resembles cheap appearance of moxy hotels (2 marriott group, at the same time i believe they would charge 500 USD per night at ease

Lovely review, as always. This hotel is not my preference but you’ve still showcased it beautifully. Will say that if I ever did stay there, I’d probably take the stairs because I’d never get off the elevator, apparently. That screen looks magical!

Oh look, a hotel made by d-bags for d-bags. Wow, the hotel's sign is upside down! How original and creative!
That art in front of the hotel is a blatant copy of another artist's concept, and horribly executed.

And the bog standard garment racks. But they painted them yellow. Yes, they did.
8: 58 - WORSE than bog standard hallway.
We'll not mention the room or its furnishings other than to say lol. Standard.

Definitely not my kind of hotel but an interesting video and well shot, as usual. I am looking forward to the Amsterdam video as i have been there quite a few times for short breaks from the UK.

Interesting. it was on the bucket list for a mid range option but your review actually made me decide against staying here. It feels really cheap and tacky. Glad you provided a proper online tour.

I loved the floor to ceiling windows. The hotel room reminds me of the Edison. I stayed there last year and the room was small, but the windows were not as lovely. Thanks for this.

The architectural style, decor and general vibe of this place reminded me of Jacque Tati's films, how he utilised some of the stark, brutalist designs prevalent in the 60s and 70s.

I love New York and the high line. Until that crazy orange psycho is gone I won’t be returning to America. I guess as a privileged white man it makes no difference

I have heard of this hotel but I have never seen the interior, love the elevators and the view from the rooftop was incredible, as always thanks for sharing!

This hotel is interesting, the decoration are aiming young customers, so as their restaurant. Always love your videos, thank you expert!

Unique New York. Try saying that as fast as you can 10x's. Living room lounge lives up to its name. Also, see Library Hotel Times Square.
