Admittedly, I've never traveled this highway, nor the one that I'm about to talk about, though I'd SORELY like to do both. AED, are you aware that Trail Ridge has a twin It is called the Beartooth Summit Plateau Scenic Highway, USR 212, its Southern/Western end in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming Sector, and proceeds through Lamar Valley and its Bison Herd, a good starting/ending point for a possible video of yours. It leaves the Park at Cooke City in Montana leaving Wyoming, and meanders back and forth through these two states before settling into Montana, where the bulk of the drive is at its climax through an extremely similar above timberline alpine tundra venue, to that of Trail Ridge. The Beartooth Summit Plateau is roughly 1K' lower than Trail Ridge, but it's far more expansive, many, many acres of this flattish to rolling terrain, with the peak tops looking little more than hills as you drive closely by them. Perhaps then, you're at ELEVATION, for a good 15 miles or so. You drop down quite a lot through some interesting hairpins, and leave the canyon, which looks a lot like Switzerland, Austria, or Southern Germany to me, and end up in Red Lodge, Montana, near the maw of the canyon. Red Lodge could be the other terminus. Why not make it a round trip "Hang out", with the bison in Lamar Valley, if they're near/upon the highway; that should spice up this. .. and any Western video of yours.

From treeline to above treeline(no tree, then back to treeline(must be near 11000 feet in CO. It is so serene, majestic, and magnificent. From 37th to 54th minutes, it feels like the America's version of Furka Pass of Switzerland. The Trail Ridge Road RMNP would easily be the best scenic drive in US. Thank you for sharing with us such a beautiful road.

Thank you for the excellent video tour of the road from Grand Lake to Estes Park. This is exactly the area where my Arvid's Treasurer, A Rocky Mountain Adventure novel takes place. It's nice to see how the area looks 50 years after my time in Colorado.

beautiful drive, but is there an alternate route, there us no way I could drive on through those cliffs, with no guard rails, I just want to visit the little town in Estes

I go to RMNP all the time. If you go there, take gear that you could live through a snowstorm for at least a day or two.
