Escape to southwest Utah and take in the serenity of the fall colors and snowy mountains in this 3 hour extended scenic byway driving tour in 4K. In this video we start in the desert and head through Zion National Park, driving the complete length of Kolob Terrace Scenic Road past Kolob Reservoir all the way north to Utah Route 14 (another scenic byway) near Cedar City. From there we head up over 10, 000 feet in elevation to Cedar Breaks National Monument which had recently gotten blanketed in snow. We then continue all the way east on Route 14 past Navajo Lake to its eastern end at U. S. Route 89. Along the way we almost get stuck doing some muddy off-roading, we encounter sheep and cows, and traverse a dramatic ever changing landscape that beckons you to keep going to see what stunning views are waiting for you around the next curve. Utah enjoys a unique geography. sitting on the border between two very different deserts and the rocky mountains. So in the North East you get the beautiful high peaks and green pine forests. In the South you have the gorgeous red rock deserts everyone is so very familiar with, where all 5 of our national parks lie (The Mighty 5. And the the west, which no one talks about because it's a very barren desert, dun colored and sun baked. It's also like 2/3 military bomb range and bases. But there's some unexpectedly beautiful sights out there as well. High peaks over flat lands. Geode beds, Topaz mountain where you can find topaz just lying on the ground. Natural springs all over, old mines. It's an extremely beautiful state with almost everything except a true ocean (Great Salt Lake doesn't really count.
Cedar City is a fun city. Hosts one of the largest Shakespeare Festivals in the US every summer. It's like 2 or 3 weeks long with dozens of performances, and all sorts of food etc. Quite impressive. 14 is an amazingly beautiful road. Any time of year. With snow on the red rocks, or spring/summer green trees on the red. Or the fall colors on them. It's just all so pretty over that pass.

In the fall, Utah's mountains and canyons exsplode with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, with leaves turning red and yellow, orange, scarlet, and countless other shades. Fall is a spectacular time to visit the beautiful state of Utah. Colors appear in early September and peak in late Semtember. A beautiful route, with beautiful landscapes, traveling this beautiful route is pure pleasure. Very interesting video for which I thank you. Thanks from Chicago, Illinois. I've visited Utah often on my travels across the country.

I love the scenery and the music, unfortunately about the time I get all relaxed, another commercial comes blasting on and breaks the mood. Then I have to get up and try to stop them or they will just keep running one after another and not return to your video.

Hi thanks for sharing, love the way you went off the tar roads and through the back roads, so you get to see how the ranchers live, it's a great way to try and understand a little more about the life in the back country, thanks again, Happy Aussie.

Too old to drive on vacations anymore so these are a treat for sure. Kudos for the fine music as well. I usually have to mute the sound on so many of the travel videos.

At what time do you get to route 14 I was wondering about the narrow dirt road bits. We’re they on Kolob Terrace or an offshoot Thanks for this video!
