Seattle: Clash Of CounterculturesAlso, A Trip Up The Space Needle I know a family of three, all of whom are employed by a major supermarket chain that depends on cashiers. Ive also walked outside of my office only to see protests in front of McDonalds for higher wages, because they didnt feel the legal minimum wage was sufficient compensation for their unskilled labor. Meanwhile technology is exponentially growing. Unskilled labor jobs offering minimum wages have long been a starting point, and ONLY a starting point for people joining the workforce. Jobs will continue to be replaced with technology in ever greater numbers in ways we cannot yet imagine. For better or worse, unskilled labor will continue to have increasingly less value in the modern workforce. Disapproval of an inevitable process wont slow it down, and as time moves forward cognitive based skills will be the determining factor concerning who is, or is not, employed. Is it fair No, but then neither is life.

And you drove right past the capitol of WA! Please do not think of the CHOP zone as the CHOP zone. That is not the CHOP zone that is Capitol Hill area and the area is the LGBTQIA area of Seattle! It is sad what it is referred to now. Its even more sad that because of the CHOP zone a lot of our LGBT bars and welcoming shops were destroyed costing the community thousands if not millions in damages! That is to me part of the reason why the mayor didnt care if CHOP stayed. Capitol Hill is an area full of accepting local and family run businesses that love and would do anything for the community! The gov't and 1% don't care about the people or its well being. They would rather make sure their houses on Lake WA are maintained and their grass that is polluting the lake with fertilizers is green. The grass is def greener on the other side, but that comes with a cost of many!

: ) THANKS MUCH for sharing! Have lived in area since 1974, except for 16 year detour to DFW and Tyler: ) As you pointed out, former Mayor Durkin condoned the CHOP, and abandoning the Police Station: ( She was a piece of work indeed, and no consequences for her deleting all the Text messages around her fiasco: ( New Mayor seems to be trying well to clean up even more and 1st Republican Mayor for a LONG time. Amazon is closing some of its Go stores as the experiment to put people out of work for convenience and profit, just like the Famous Starbux not wanting Unions to protect the workers: ( Safe travels and ALL the BEST! Cheers! :)

Amazon Go hmm first time I've seen that, I'm with you on this one, seems like alot of jobs lost, however I think that is probably the future. Positive spin would be no clerks to get robbed or threatened or worse. But I personally enjoy interacting with people working for a living. On a personal note, you and your wife have a relationship much like my wife and me. We are almost always in a great mood on our trips, why not right Even though I am an old dinosaur, (70) I still have a blast whereever. We went thru Seattle on our way to Vancouver, which I fell in love with. Well I gotta look for another one of your videos.

I would live in Seattle in a heartbeat if it wasn’t, checks notes, $1. 5 million for my house in Texas.
I generally hate automation taking human jobs - but ngl, I can’t imagine how you could work a low paying job and afford to live there. It is comically expensive. I literally remember getting on Zillow and there was a parking space listed for 75, 000. Amazon is headquartered in Seattle, but lol, Amazon has generally been horrible for small business owners, and workers alike. You should have done the combo ticket - my son snd I did the Space Needle, the aquarium, MoPop and like a boat tour.

For Portland and Seattle or any of the cities that experienced the Antifa/BLM madness, ALL those who were involved in the nefarious activities, as well as the leaders of those cities who allowed it all to happen, should be rounded up and arrested. As punishment, they should all be forced to clean up the mess they created. Maybe they'll think twice before doing it again (especially the politicians who let it happen. Make a mess, clean up after yourself. That's the civilized way.

Thanks from the UK. I have watched quite a few of your videos now detailing the decline in the USA. It is quite shocking. Nothing like here. Yet. As for the Amazon Go stores - I really don't like this idea at all. They are trying to get rid of cash and this is just another way they can do this plus put people out of work. The people that would have worked in a neighbourhood grocery store will then be the people joining all the others out on the street. Very sad. Keep cash alive!

You see Seattle has transfered most of their hmless to Spokane so they didn't want to admit that they have a hmless problem so they decided to let the Eastside deal with it. Just to let you know. What Seattle has done. It was in the papers here on line. So now we have to deal with their hmless issues. on the issue on credit card no thanks. I don't trust technology. On that. Wow. That's very scary especially when the store has no people yikes.

Wow Seattle is gone to woke liberalism definitely not a City I would ever want to go to.
So much disturbing things I saw BLM/LGBTQ Plus ideologies marked all over the City.
The Amazon shop very New World Order agenda 2030
Vaccine passports are so discriminating and are medical apartheid.
They hypocrisy of the City Black Lives Matter and in the same breath no vaccine no entry!

I LOVE Seattle. Love it. It’s such a great city. The only complaint would be third avenue - but even that is sort of meh for someone who lived in New Orleans. If it had just been me, I likely wouldn’t have flinched. I had my 4 yr old with me though - we were trying to get to the train. But, honestly it is SUCH a beautiful city with so much to do.

I will comment what I think. First and foremost I like your content and have watched many of your videos now, thank you for producing them. As for stores with no cashiers and the dystopian future we are rocketing towards I will always cherish having grown up in America the way it used to be. I refuse to use self checkouts, or online retailers.

A. I. Technology will eventually Replace All Human Workers and the Poverty Rate will Exponentially Increase and their Sales will Exponentially Decrease because No One will have any Income to Spend. It's like Shooting themselves in the Foot and still expect to Run a 10K Race and Not Understanding Why they Can't. They Are Dummies!
reply

I don't like those Amazon stores and will not go into one. Automatically having my credit card charged for food items without me actually seeing it, palm scans no thanks. At least at self check out you see what you are doing. The end of the video was nice but seeing Seattle look like it does was rough.
reply

I love your videos. I do, but what a horrible liberal infested city. It's a shame I remember Seattle in the 80s and 90s. what a cool place, but it's destroyed forever, just like that dump Portland, sanfrancisco, Philly and several other liberal ran slum cities. it's a shame!
reply

The chop zone is a major embarrament. The fact the mayor called it the summer of love shows the type of brainless people running King County. The voters there must love it though. They keep voting the same way. I moved far away and now live in SW WA. Thank god
reply

no need to worry about A. I. there will be indestructible police robots A. I. auto. s no more high speed chases no money to be robbed and finally the king robot GOD and man will become the eloi ie; The time machine hope not distopia like Soylant green
reply

Well, after your Portland video, I was mildly surprised. I expected Seattle to be trashed, just as Portland was. But at least, Seattle was able to keep the trashing of the city, to that one area, which is still trashed, but not as bad as Portland.
reply

Washington is a beautiful state though so I hope everyone still visits the beautiful towns like Bellview and Bellingham it's beautiful but the major obviously failed the citizens by telling the police to just leave i don't get why he did that.
reply

Democrats destroyed Portland and Seattle. I grew up in Republican Portland Oregon and graduated from Benson Tech by Lloyd Center. Portland was a Beautiful City in the 70's and 80's. Nothing last forever. America is next. TRUMP 24

I don't mind the AmazonGo stores at all tbh. I think of it as essentially a walk-in vending machine. The only problems I see with this is that it can track what you're buying, so that's perhaps somewhat concerning, etc.
reply

You totally missed the statue of Jimi Hendrix at the corner of Broadway and Pine, only focused on a two block area of Capitol Hill that has always been the run down section. Missed a lot of good neighborhoods
reply

If you didn't come across the hill to our side then you didn't visit Washington, same with Oregon. We have a left and a right side to the state, coasties and the rest of us, two totally different worlds
reply

I won't go to Seattle. I've lived across the water in from Seattle in Kitsap County for 40 years. We used to go to Seattle to play and to eat and to visit. It's not somewhere I feel safe any longer. Sad.
reply

You couldn't have been serious putting the Seattle Space Needle up there with the Empire State Building. I think if most people were shown a picture of it, they would have no idea what it is or where it is.
reply

Seattle and it's Space Needle are the only place I also visited years and years ago. I like your video's! Watching them gives me the idea to have a holiday in the US. Greetings Hans, Netherlands, Europe.
reply

I think the worry about the Amazon store was wrong because already all the bigger stores I go to are self checkout already. It’s actually hard to find cashiers at most stores these days.
reply

There is no point to the vaccination cards or the vaccine itself. It doesn't prevent infection or sickness. and the poor fools who got it are at risk of dying suddenly.
reply

I’m visitng Seattle now. Center Seattle, Pikes Market, museums were all clean and felt safe. Seems like you are only showing the bad areas. Political bias maybe
reply

I remember the Elvis movie, It Happened at the World's Fair. It centered around the fair, Space Needle and such. I'm sure it was good for tourism.
reply

I am from the Uk and am sorry but the space needle is not as famous as you think it is, I have never heard of it , and is nothing special
reply

What if you don't put your credit card in There's no security that I saw. You could just walk in, then walk right out!
reply

Grew up around this 'sister city' and don't like what it's turned into. Hope you guys haven't forgotten there's 52 states!
reply

The most disturbing part of the video was having to show your papers to go up the space needle. That was scary.
reply

Agree with you about Amazon it should be called Amazon No Go. Hope this model isn't adopted by other businesses.
