New York City: Walking The Dirty, Grimy, Amazing Streets I spent the first 37 years of my life in that city. It wasnt always a dump. Koch (D) & Giuliani (R) cleaned things up and ran the city with fiscal discipline. Things went downhill in between and since, big time. Koch took office after Abe Beame, with NYC was on the verge of bankruptcy, No one showed up to a bond auction and the city had no dough to pay debt, even cover payroll. Anyway, a little known fact; after the first snowfall of his administration, perhaps an inch or 2, an aide went to him and asked if they should call a snow day for city workers. Mr. Koch asked what that meant and was informed, all but critical workers stayed home and received pay. His response was, from this day forth, no more snow days. You dont come to work, you dont get paid. The no more snow days mayor. Love it.

So you didn't even leave Manhattan Where the majority work but cant afford to live We have 5 major boroughs, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. In TIMES Square where all real NEWYORKERS avoid like the plague, also surprisd you didnt know of the naked cowboy he's been a fixture in Times square, and his wife now for a couple of decades. You really dropped the ball on this one. Well you would've needed at least a week anyways just to explore each borough.

Been there 3X. Loved it every time but no desire to go back. They’re crazy there. Did you get to Central Park You must be in Manhattan. We spent time with friends in Queens from Ecuador who took us to Manhattan via the subway. Interesting.
Definitely loved going up the Empire State bldg, Battery Park, the ferry to Ellis Island & SL.
I’ve been watching how NYC was built & how the old structures competed with each other for height.

Man, love your videos, but you really gave NYC short shrift. This is by far, the country's leading city and it's one of, if not, your shortest video. I mean you could spend days, being the lover of architecture and eateries and such that you are, exploring just Brooklyn and Queens, never mind Manhattan. Love just about every other video you guys have put out there, but sadly, you dropped the ball on this one.

Ugh as a New Yorker I can barely watch these. You were on a backstreet that is why it looked a little dingy. And that trash is not everywhere it's garbage bags waiting for Sanitation to pick up. And possibly a violation from a business.
I hope you guys walked through Central Park CP goes up to 110st West to East and it has alot of landmarks and great places to take pics.

One borough down, 4 more to go! Yall are really gonna need to dedicate at least 2 days to Brooklyn. Arguably, the most segregated city in the country (imo. I grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn which was a Black Caribbean community. Almost every area of Brooklyn represents a different ethnic culture.

Just curious. Is NYC the only city in NY state you plan to visit Upstate is generally neglected for real press, especially places like Syracuse, Binghamton, Corning. It'd be nice to see you do video visits to the less famous parts of NY. America knows enough about the creature of the southeast corner.

No better place then New York City. energy and vibes are just different there but you gotta do Long Island and the hamptons also. you gotta go at night also and walk around NYC its even nicer views
Been looking for more New York videos and cant find any besides this short ass video

. a city with millions of people and
multiple times trash on the ground surprised you!
. i honestly hope understandings of co-relations don't create biases
for you and your viewers
. crime, poverty, cleanliness generally goes hand in hand with population size

Well we only reinstated alternate side parking a couple of months ago since the pandemic. So yes, the streets were being cleaned less.
Unfortunately, when they did the NYC street grid in the 1800s they removed most of the alleys to get more real estate.

Ok, or not OK it's called the Freedom Tower. Please have more respect for the aftermath of 9/11. Yes they do have window washers and they actually get pelted by grain seeds from the Midwest when the winds are favorable for that to happen.
reply

They really aren’t that grimy and dirty lol especially with how many ppl and how big it is i mean i watch a ton of your other videos of all the other states, cities and towns and this looks a billion times nicer and cleaner then all of them

I have been watching several bike videos from NYC and I am surprised at how clean it is. No litter etc. It really puts LA to shame. There is trash all over the freeways right in the middle of downtown here.
reply

Excellent video. Changed my mind about New York City but I have to say I kept waiting to see George and Kramer coming around the corner. You did a great Liberty, Liberty, Liberty commercial also.
reply

The trashbags onthe sidewalk is actually a part of NYC life cuz that's where the trucks will pick it up. So they're around just waiting for a truck not cuz someone trashing the city.
reply

Why are your videos so short Why not spend two days in bigger places like this Hard to get a sense of the place.
reply

A whole host of You Tubers cover NYC. LS covers many places in regular America that are hardly mentioned.
reply

Your video gives me more of a sense of what downtown looks like more than anything I've seen. Thanks
