GEORGIA: Small Towns With High Children's Poverty - What I Actually Saw Surprised Me! Great video! This video demonstrates a clear failure of the National/State/County educational systems. The towns themselves look very pleasant in their rural settings. Unsettling though is the circle of poverty as discussed in the stats, i. e. high percentage of women head of household with no male presence (low marriage rates. Its really not a life dream of most that are young and educated to settle in for a lifelong closed cycle of poverty. In the US, those young females would easily qualify for a free college education, but NOT if they were not properly mentored/counseled at a young age thru high school - again Nat/ST/Co educational failures. Another reason to dismantle and decentralize the National - Dept of Education. All those tax dollars wasted in DC only seeing the teachers union prospering throughout the nation while the young minds fall behind into an ever ending cycle of poverty, just look at Baltimore MD. same issue (just like CA/IL/IN/GA etc et. al. Ugh.

Poverty/Low income does NOT necessarily mean high crime. Crime is proportional to social/community values and community/family support of individuals, and community leadership. You can be very poor and have little to no crime. That how I grew up.
Food stamps, gov’t cheese and powdered milk subsidies, and our ONLY household income was $400/month SSI. But everyone knew and supported each other as needed - and (most importantly) the few possessions we had we OWNED. Raggedy home, old vehicles, old furniture, hand-me-down clothes. But we owned it. So no one went without their basic needs met. And I too grew up in a very small town in rural Georgia.
Generally speaking, if people can live in a low stress, peaceful environment, and can meet their basic needs, they’re content. Regardless of race, creed, ethnicity or color.

it's Georgia, the cost of living is different than other states, it's cheap to live there well it was at one time, a 60k home there might cost $300k in another state, I do know that a home like mine in Florida is a 3 to 5 million dollar home in California and there is a grocery store and dollar general in Arlington, and there are still some business there too and farms
I these guys are still editing these videos trying to from a certain narrative

As a young Canadian boy, my parents brought me to SC twice. We were always shocked by the poverty. I had seen some systemic poverty on our local reserve, but nothing like the US. As a retired teacher, I feel like I should be volunteering in those poor states. Where do those kids go to school and what is the quality of their education What percentage go on to trades or post secondary

I do not understand what you mean when you say childrens poverty. Do you mean you count the children of a poor family separately or do you mean bunches of children living alone without supervision. It almost sounds like a buzz word such as fund raisers would use. We were very poor when I was growing up.
we worked for every dime we had though. We did not accept any form of charity.

Every time I see any type of dollar store, flashing in front of my eyes, I see corn syrup corn syrup, corn syrup and palm oil, salt mercury, etc in almost all their foods which is everything that shortens your life. What an improvement! Also, I don’t know what to call me, but I’ll never buy a home for more than $20, 000 without a few tenants. Excuse me for living.

This can't be true, who discovered this And no one has done anything about it How can this be true in this country the most richest country in the world. Somebody aren't doing their job fr, fr. Somebody needs to lose their job in Congress etc. I just find this disturbing and wrong, why this is just now being discovered Wow how many other states are being overlooked.

Those are ghost towns! It's look like nobody lives there. You see cars in the front of houses but nobody's outside. Nobody's walking, there are no kids playing in the yard. And where they are workingWhere are the factoriesThe stores are closed, bars not opened. Most of America is sucks!

Poverty Stop with the numbers. Small town residents know how to garden, hunt, raise food animals. So the low money amount is not so low when its used for bills. Why go through neighborhoods just to show someone thats poor. Thats just tasteless especially when you offered no help

We saw Jimmy Carter and Rosalind in Americus Ga. at Walmart. we talked to Jimmy Carter a couple of minutes. Rosalind was shopping and didn't speak. You know when you have run in to any of the Carter family they all have the same smile.

It shouldn't be surprising that the secret ingredient to crime is men.
With large female populations, drastically less crime. There doesn't seem to be a great reduction of poverty or positive impact of larger male presence.

My dad is from rural GA, not a lot of crime there either, could leave your doors unlocked! Everyone knows everyone! So the low crime stats doesn’t shock me at all! I can only imagine the history in these towns! Thanks for sharing

Since insurance companies are no longer covering homes at the beach or near the coast it will not be long before people figure out they can get land cheap and still be just a few hours from the beach and be able to be insured.

That’s the difference between Arlington compared to Collin’s in Ms. That just go to show how much of an effect having a mother and father present. All trickles down poverty rate 17 and under is 40% crime rate high.

Why don't the poverty numbers jive with the per capita income Becaaaause Plains has become a Democratic Mecca both monetarily and socially for the Left-wing ideology that worships The MOST Failed President in American History.

Wow, Thanks for showing Edison. According to my DNA matches, I have ancestors from Edison, Calhoun County, GA. Right where you are. But they all left in the 1930's. Thanks for your videos, I'm really enjoying them.

I'd like to know if these towns had a hospital and schools. There was no fire station in one. Also, did they have a police station Those services are an important part of a community.

Well someone needs to address the elephant in the room, so I will. ALL of these towns are primarily black towns. Welfare and poverty are their way of life. Its plain statistics folks.

I lived in Bronwood, GA (20 miles from Plains) as a kid. I remember kids going to school with no shoes on in the 80s. Extreme poverty was normal and it appears to be the same now.

OMG! The homeless street shitters, shooting heroin and throwing their needles on the sidewalk was just too much. And the burned out buildings with all the graffiti. I can't even.
reply

Wow, that was a great trip. I guess numbers can lie - sort of. LOL. Love these small towns and there were surprises everywhere on this trip, which was GREAT! Thank Joe.

Many of the nice houses are handed down from generation to generation! Many small towns are living on income gain from old wealth from Past Slave master inheritance.
reply

You couldn't understand why the one town had more crime. it's obvious.
More men. The other towns had majority women. More women. less crime. More men. more crime.

reply

Poor people don’t really commit crimes that is one reason they are poor
The rich are thieves
Poor people also don’t report crimes so there’s that

Nothing to do with female or male put the blame on the government they need to create more jobs not to send the jobs to other countries.
