This is a drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (Lucius J Kellam Jr. Bridge-Tunnel) both ways - the first drive (northbound) is in realtime, while the return trip is in time-lapse at 7. 5x Fantastic video of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel(Lucious J. Kellum, JR Memorial Bridge Tunnel) I used to ride across the Chesapeake Bay on it when I was stationed aboard my very first ship in the Navy which was the USS Seattle AOE-3 in Norfolk, VA. I traveled on it on weekends when I didn’t have duty when I would go home to Newark, DE on weekend liberty on Friday afternoon with in theservicemens Greyhound express goin to either Philadelphia or New York City. I would ride it to New Castle, DE, Sunday nights and/or Monday holiday nights it outdoor be return to a Norfolk, sometimes I would ride in a carpool each way. Many Navy sailors, Marines, Coast Guard sailors stationed in the Tidewater Metropolitian area are weekend commuters. I rode on it 34 times between Friday, October 29, 1972 & Wednesday, July 31, 1974.

I hope when it is time for replacement, it would have more solid railings, wider shoulders, and a new parallel tunnel to separate opposite directions.

Thank you for posting this. It helps me try to get over my anxiety about crossing bridges and tunnels. Especially this one.

I was going to say "at least there's no rain"!
Looks real tight the lanes in those tunnels
