Thanks for posting this info. I've been wondering how everyone gets home after completing the PCT. Most just say they made it to Canada, show the pic of the monument and then you hear nothing more. I have heard that walking into Canada is an option but have never heard how far the first town was or how far one had to backtrack if not crossing the border. I'm sure this will answer a lot of people's questions, it did mine. As usual, very informative.

I live with my entire family in Seattle, so if I ever end up doing this I would honestly just hike back down to Snoqualmie so my family could come pick me up. However, I doubt any of them would hesitate to drive up to the border to get me. I guess I'm lucky!

A fund of info, but you did not say who is there to check those passes you talk about. Like, if I go to Canada, who is going to stop me from coming across the USA border? It seems to me that the USA border police are all on the Mexico border.

When applying for a US Passport you can also get a Passport card. The card is the size of a driver's license and is good for crossing the border between the Canada, the US and Mexico by land only.

I am considering this, looking at the permit process etc. I lived in San Diego for 35 years, I know the area. I'm sure there is a better way to get to Campo than via El Cajon! See how this goes.

Dixie a question. is there a Amtrak train near the pct or Appalachian trails northern terminus to take home when you are done. I always wanted to take a train. very good info.

Do you know about international hikers wanting to cross the border going Nobo? Would you be fine getting the greyhound to Vancouver then getting the Amtrak to Seattle? Thanks
reply

Dang. Seems like the people who planned this trail coulda ended it in a better location. Like at a train station with a McDonalds and a liquor store.

So. the northern terminus isn't in Canada? I've been thinking this whole time IT WAS!
Thanks for this great video! Love you to pieces!

My SOBO border plan would involve a balaclava and a 1am crossing into my own country, just saying. lol I declare the PCT a sanctuary trail.
