Dixie I love your video's, very informative. I section hike (one weekend at a time) This past weekend I found a new favorite dinner. I dehydrated pulled pork and some home made mash potatoes. For dinner on the trail the pulled pork re-hydrated perfectly. I re-hydrated the mash potatoes with the pulled pork and ate it on tortillas. I dehydrate my own dinners and this is defiantly one I will have each time I go out.

When i was in the army and had to rely on MREs in the field or deployment, i would spend a couple of weeks ahead of time, dehydrating frozen mixed veggies, broccoli, cheese, cooked bacon, cooked ground beef, and cooked ground chicken. it meant i was always able to either jazz up the MRE or make a meal for myself with hot water and a bouillon packet. Dehydrated hummus is genius!

my fav breakfast for a busy day is oatmeal, it's fulfilling, I never know you can add hot water directly into the oatmeal pouch, it won't break? I must have my coffee, have you try cold brew coffee using regular coffee grind? it just need to soak in cold water for hours. Can you show us how to set up a tiny stove? I am scare of starting a fire on a stove with lighter!

Hey, My favorite treat on the trail was fresh corn: . They are a bit heavy but after ressuply is a good timing to have them. You can drop them on fire to cook them, I personally prefer them raw. I was also using onions quite a bit. They are good and conveniant and can be added to about anything. They also gave me a part of my trail name! Wich was mystic onion.

Idahoan Loaded Potato instant potatoes + packet of dried miso soup + individual pkt of olive oil (as a through hiker, you could use a small squeeze bottle) + black pepper= HEAVEN can also add bacon bits and cheese. Also our latest find is from Andrew Skurka; his beans, rice and fritos is the BOMB! You add taco seasonings to the freeze dried refried beans.

Last trip I loved a bagel with a packet of cream cheese (the kind that doesn't need to be refrigerated) with a packet of salmon. Bagel with lox on the trail, yes! Salmon also has a crazy amount of protein.

Loved your last comment - to eat your favorite thing at the time - don't save it. I think that's a good philosophy for life in general - that I will put in my pack and carry with me.
