I asked my fellow hikers for pictures of some of their blisters and bites and cuts and bruises and every other injury, and they did not disappoint! Some of the injuries are a little gruesome so if that's not your cup of tea then I hope you at least skip to the 11: 36 mark!

I don't have photos of it but I managed to somehow pierce and artery inside of my leg walking through scrub in South Western Australia, I brushed it off as just a general scratch or cut and didn't check the wound and kept on hiking, only stopping to check after my right boot became slippery and wet on the inside, the blood from the wound was running down my leg and filled my boot haha.

Holy moly! I don't know how some of those people kept walking with those blisters! I try to take my shoes and socks off a couple times a day, during snack breaks, while backpacking. Your feet need to breath! An extra pair of socks doesn't hurt if you're blister prone. It's hard to walk without your feet, so take care of them!

Per my usual ritual, I watch the Homemade Wanderlust videos while sitting down to lunch at my desk. I did manage to make it through this and eat my lunch at the same time, but I wouldn 't recommend trying it. About the only thing that really made me wince was the boiling water injury.

God, this was painful to watch. But I'm so glad you shared. I'm an ER nurse so I've seen some gross things. But I never want to see people suffering and hurt. It is good to know what can and does happen, and how bad it can get! Always I learn something watching your videos.

That was gruesome I watched a little but had to finish it is good that you post this kind of video because some people do think there just going for a walk or that they might get a scratch or a little blister so ya nice job on the good the bad and the ugly!

room. getting. darker.
I understand why you needed to post this. The fear of a newbie hiker seeing this on themselves on the trail would have fear 1000x more than any of us in our comfy homes. We need to be prepared. Some of us more than others.

good video. im sitting here with a fractured fibula from stepping on a rock the wrong way and when im healed im going right back out and being more careful but my injury did not stop me from enjoying backpacking

Why do you look so pleased with yourself in the beginning when you are setting out how gory the images are going to be. You look like you are fit to bust out laughing!

LMAO at the double black eyes!
That takes special talent! :)
Burns are the worst. I cringe at the pain that must have been inflicted. Ouch! :(

Completely ridiculous that some people would allow their injuries to get so extreme. Our bodies give enough warning when problems present themselves.
