Continental Divide Trail Documentary: CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE BWO: YOU CAN FIX INGROWN TOENAILS YOURSELF. A little bit of cotton--a toothpick or alternate--step by step grit your teeth and poke & shove the bit of cotton underneath & around the edge of the toenail in the infected area. May take some experimental practice but easy enough to learn.
After the first shove or so--shove it a little more as much as you can stand it--however many times it takes--until the cotton is wrapping in a cotton U shape around the nail between the nail & the whole extent of the infected flesh.
It needs to be enough to cushion & allow the flesh to heal but not so much it is too painful to walk.
I speak from tons of experience. Doc tore nail off 2-3 times. Threatened to scrape my nail next time and almost in exasperation gave me the above solution. IT HAS ALWAYS WORKED. for me and all I've shared it with.
Iodine etc. is good to soak cotton in. Though I've often done without it.
Do not change the cotton unless it somehow slips out. You can use big nail clippers to cut excess cotton to decrease likelihood it will slip out. Just let the cotton grow out with the nail.
If you can wear open toed sandals or flipflops--all the better for a week or so.

I've always wanted to try and get a triple crown, and I've always hesitated to try for it because of the CDT specifically. It just seems to be the most unforgiving of the three, it seems so different because you run into fewer people because the AT and the PCT are definitely more traveled. This video kinda proved me right, as this one seemed the most difficult to do, but it also inspired me to (after quarantine, of course) actually try and go for it someday.

Recently, I found your vlog on the Net.
Your movies brought me back my days in 90's. I'm not a thru-hiker, but hiked through all of the national parks section, and the national forests. Of course I encountered many wild ones along the trails.
I was a Japanese backpacker (used be. Now, I'm too old to go for the wilderness, again.
Anyway.
Hats off to your braveness.

Hey, Dixie. My husband love your videos and have really enjoyed following your journey. Thanks for taking us along! I have a bit of a random question for you? The black shorts you wore on your thru-hikes, can you tell me what brand and style they are? They must be comfy for you to have worn them for sooooo many miles! Thanks in advance!

I gotta say I got so excited when you said you wear a mens 11! Me too and finding hiking boots in my size has been a pain in the booty especially since I have narrow feet and the mens sizes tend to be wider. I've found that most of the popular hiking shoe brands like Altra don't make women's 13. Its such a bummer!

A view from the other side: The Backbone of the World, by Frank Clifford. Enjoyed your video so much I wanted to read more about it. I thought this book was a step by step account of a CDT hike. But not. Mentions sheep, remembered your encounter with them in Colorado.

I just have to wonder if it's the same small group of people that go to all these YouTube videos and give them thumbs down. They sit in their parent's basement and would never dream or have the initiative to do what Dixie has done. Awesome accomplishment Dixie!

I've watched your docuseries over the past few days (during those lulls in the office that are just spooky in these COVID days) and it's amazing to see your drive and commitment to such an epic journey. Thanks for taking the time to share the adventure!

I'm sure you know by now that what you thought was a goat in Montana was actually a small bighorn sheep. Very surprised you didn't run into some rutting elk once you got into September. Their bugles touch the soul.

This looks so awesome. I'm debating doing this vs the PCT. It looks to be a tough decision. Just wondering, why the San Juan National Park was closed? What could cause an entire area like that to not have any access.
