I think the politics aren't getting in the way as much as they're stepping out. New York actually has a great ev program, where they give major tax incentives for cheap evs and small ones for expensive evs, which stops rewarding these companies for making all these crazy expensive evs. Their cutoff is 42, 000 dollars for the full benefit of 2000 dollars, above that you only get 500. This makes the kona ev and most of the equinox ev 2000 dollars cheaper here, while most evs only get 500. The ridiculous price ceiling of 80, 000 on suvs simply allows them to make wagons and hatchbacks into suvs by lifting them 2 inches and calling them a cuv, then they can increase the price 25, 000 dollars and still give people the tax incentive. People shouldn't be forced to take out second mortgages to get a car if this is supposed to be the future.

I genuinely think the new OPTIQ and all-new VISTIQ will give the Lyriq a run for it's money because of the amazing value that those models are offering although I understand money is no object for the Cadillac customer. I still think in 2025-26 the Lyriq blows everything else from Cadillac's competition out of the water, and it's not even close. No one else did as much homework on their first attempt in this segment and it shows even 'til this day. If you're not already in love with the styling & design, as soon as you test drive one you'll immediately begin to understand why it outsells everything else in the segment and deserves that #1 spot. Cadillac EVs are hard to outdo and they're just getting started. None of them are in their second generation yet.

So tired of complaints about the potential loss of EV credits. Other taxpayers shouldn't be subsidizing your new vehicle.
I'm not anti-EV at all but they need to compete on their own merits. I'm currently not in the market because I work from home and I just don't drive enough to justify a newer vehicle. My 2012 Impala never hits 2000 miles annually.
I have the same outlook on solar credits and child tax credits. If you can't afford children, don't have them. All schools should have tuition with potentially taxes, fundraisers, and charitable contributions providing tuition assistance for the poor. Instead, homes that have been in families for generations have to be sold because they can't afford the tax bill.

Been driving a 2024 AWD Lyriq since Jan 2024 and been absolutely LOVING it!
First EV and don't think I can ever go back to an ICE car. It is just so much more smooth, instant torque-y, and quiet. The beginning did have some software gremlins, but glad to see that GM has finally gotten into a good groove and worked out most of the bugs. Best part is the killer deal that I got of $13. 5k off MSRP. Planning to keep the car for at least 8 years (until the battery warranty expires. Hopefully by then the EV's will be in a completely different stratosphere in tech by then.

For traditional Cadillac buyers (seniors, it's a very approachable vehicle for them to consider. I think the potential buyer needs to be considered heavily when recommending or not recommending the Lyric. Someone coming from a DTS is not going to mind many of the things that those wanting a V-series experience, and until Lyric 2. 0 comes around and in a V-series, the Chevy SS and Acura ZDX (hearse edition) will have to suffice.
Lyric is EV 1. 0 for Cadillac. The Optiq shows what they've learned. That bodes well for Lyric 2. 0, don't you think

If the electric cars are so good on their own why do they need a ev tax credit. May the best car win, either gas or electric. And why would anyone want to buy a 5 year old used lithium battery as the car ages. They must depreciate incredibly fast. We need graphene battery technology, then electric cars will take off on their own in my opinion. I do like the Cadillac optiq. What a great looking car. I just don’t like the back end of this car.

The reviewers need to start calling out recalls and quality control. All these reviews are useless unless brand reliability is mentioned. These days, the auto makers are dumbing unfinished products on to the consumers. The reviewers need to work for their audience and not the car makers. Alex, you could make a separate video a few months from now and mention recalls and QC. Otherwise these reviews are useless if the car is at the dealership 24/7.

I didn’t really care for the fastback on the Lyriq, it really cut down the cargo while looking odd. Really all the models on this battery pack have weird proportions, though the Prologue does it better than the other 3.
Optiq is nicer inside, better proportioned, and cheaper, and isn’t really that much smaller. Once Vistiq comes out I don’t think I see the point of the Lyriq.

While we don't know if it'll be in the final bill, it has made it this far. Perilous moment for electrics!

The Volt was interesting, GM killed it
The Chevy Bolt EV sold well, GM killed it
There's a pattern there.
My wife and I sold our old Chevy Spark and bought an Elantra Hybrid.

ZDX is fugly. Blazer EV RS is too busy looking. Prologue is great but no supercruise. Lyriq V gets a little pricey. So best choices are Lyriq AWD for luxury or Blazer EV SS for performance (if you can live with the styling.
Wish there was a Prologue Type R (Blazer EV SS underneath) that has the extra power and supercruise

I will say that the Caddy/Acura are going for someone that wants a variant of a more normal car interior than most of the competition, but definitely the Polestar 3. The 3 puts the HVAC in the screen, the mirrors in the screen, some of the seat controls in the screen, etc. Not to mention the odd steering wheel controls.

What's shocking is the number of reviewers who push CarPlay as if it's an attribute to any car. Personally I cannot stand it. It never integrates properly with the vehicles software and native functions. And the main screen is ugly and doesn't match any of the other interior design elements.

EVs are giving us RWD biased, wagon-shaped, and comfort-foucsed vehicles.
I love how it isn't trying to be an EGO protector crossover. Just a good car that happens to be electric.

Why is everyone so obessed with how quickly an ev goes from zero to 60 I just bought a 24 lyriq and as a former owner of a teska y and x. this car is absolutely a much better car. No comparison. I would encourage anyone looking for an ev. lease a lyriq. never buy an ev.

I seriously doubt dealerships are capable of removing and installing the batteries. A few years ago there was one EV certified tech in my area who had to cover half a dozen dealerships. Taking my Volt in for anything more than a minor issue was out of the question.

The less said about the RZ the better. It’s not even worth mentioning because of its poor execution
It’s best to forget it exists and instead focus on EVs that are ACTUALLY competitive, not underwhelming or as dreadful as a Mitsubishi mirage

Happy to see new EVs of all shapes and sizes coming to market. Cant believe this is 10 inches longer than my Model Y though. Doesn't look like any extra cabin space or real usable legroom, no front trunk, and rear trunk smaller than the Y.

No rear window wiper is a miss. I’m also not a fan of the rear end styling. That rear seat cushion is quite low that’s a disappointment for a vehicle that large. The Consumer Reports reliability ratings for the Lyriq are terrible.

A friend of mine leased a 2024 AWD version and, with the exception of the weak A/C in the 2nd row on very hot days, it's fantastic. He says it's the best car he's ever had, and he's owned some pretty vivid stuff.
