2025 Infiniti QX80 Review - Can Infiniti Beat Lexus At The Escalade Game

There's one automotive segment in America that (so far) imports have failed to tackle head-on, but that's finally starting to change with the newest Infiniti QX80 and its Nissan cousin, the Armada. These two SUVs are FINALLY about the same size inside and out as the big SUVs from America's Big Three. But does the QX80 have the rest of the large personality to compete with Caddy's Escalade, the big-daddy in the luxury SUV space

Absolutely yes it can. Let’s be honest Alex. Anything is better than Lexus now. Literally any other brand you can think of is likely better
Going forward Alex, the less said about Lexus the better, because it just cannot be taken seriously. It’s just not worth wasting time reviewing them because they never impress or wow. Because you can clearly see that other brands are ACTUALLY competitive and ACTUALLY worthwhile of our attention. You see that in how they execute their product. Whereas Toyota and Lexus one quick glance at them and it’s already time to move on to a competitor before giving them a chance, because they objectively don’t have anything to offer.
Well done Infiniti. You’ve come back while Lexus has ostensibly gone out of business, which is something I never thought I’d say, until I and just about everyone including Alex saw the newest Lexus models, which are about on par with a Mitsubishi Mirage, which is to say, dreadful, uncompetitive, and not even worth mentioning. There’s not a single relevant metric where Lexus does better than any other brand

I thought your Armada video was an Infiniti review - if I was looking for a big offroader the Armada would definitely be on my shopping list, it's way more efficient than this guy which seems weird. Same engine right Why is the Infiniti so much worse fuel economy wise Plus I just love the Pro 4X Nissans. But in the real world the Busy Forks FWD has enough ground clearance and wheel travel for the dirt roads I'm on on vacation so I'll have to stick to that as a rational decision. But I do miss having a 4WD vehicle, I had a Sport Trac V8 4x4 and that was a blast tho fuel costs were painful

The GM full-size SUV’s are king. They are also the only ones with a V8 and still some more basic functionality that buyers appreciate. Here in the upper Midwest they are easily 80% of the fullsize share I see on the road. The expedition is probably 15% and 5% for anything else. It’s that dramatic here.

I’ve ridden in two of the when taking Uber rides and they are super luxurious. I have a feeling that like the last model they won’t need to redesign this one for many years. It’s a very impressive luxury SUV and it shows high quality from every angle and feels extremely comfortable and solid.

Hey Alex! This is the Sensory trim. The Autograph is now the top trim which has suede headliner, Massage Seats in Front and Back, Cool Box and Heated Third Row with ProPilot Assist 2. 1 system. The QX80s I’ve driven has reached well over 20 mpg on the highway! Keep up the great work!

Outside of a major upgrade in tech, I'm not seeing many reasons to get this new QX over getting a nice used one for half the price. The new tech isn'r worth $50k, and neither is the smaller engine, that doesn't offer better acceleration or better fuel economy
reply

Maybe i missed it, but did you mention the ride height situation Seems very low down in the static shots (parking or entry/exit mode for the air suspension. Does it raise and lower depending on speed or mode, and how might that affect ride quality

Escalade remains king, but my money would be on the QX80. Too many Escalades on the road for it to feel special, which I think is important when you're spending this amount of money. although here in Houston QX80s are fairly popular.

The QX80 technology is really next level. sensors that detect your body heat for climate control, cameras that show an underneath angle, isolated sound for calls while music simultaneously plays (for passengers)

What ruins this every luxury vehicle for me is low profile tires with massive wheels. My next vehicle i plan on swapping out the factory wheels and tires for smaller wheels with bigger tires.

Alex, I think the 'Japanese Escalade' would fit inside the 'merican Escalade. BTW I agree when you say 0: 48 - Audi did not reinvent the wheel. or design the Infinti QX80.

Nissan is dying company, most likely bankruptcy in a few years or so. I would stay away from it. Stick to Honda, Toyota, Mazda even Hyundai and Kia is better than them

The previous Gen had a much nicer interior in my opinion. Also the second row console on the previous model was much bigger and more luxorious than here.

Looked at one of these the other day. They are absolutely stunning in top trim! I was looking for something RX sized though and this is much larger.

Dang, Audi sure stole some Infiniti engineers. But I’m guessing this was actually on purpose and very good engagement farming. :)

13: 20 Mmmm. I seem to recall the preproduction examples had metal stripes running through the wood inserts on the top end trim.

I really think Infiniti outdid Lexus this generation. That LX is so trash if you arent going for a five seater version of it
