The previous gen Q5 was better than it's German competition in some ways that are not evident at first and I hope this redesign continues the same.
1. The front passenger footwell is deeper than the competition, giving more room to stretch your legs out.
2. The Q5 also has a little more leg room which allows even tall passengers to sit in the front passenger seat without having their knees squished against the dash with a rear facing infant car seat in the back.
3. The rear bench seat on the Q5 is higher off the floor, has better thigh support and more comfortable than even the BMW X5 which is a class bigger.
4. Slimmer A pillars that don't impede visibility in turns as much as some other cars.

One of the favorite options available to higher model Audis, like the Q5S (and Mercedes I think) is the inbuilt Payviam module that functions as a toll payment system on ALL US TOLL ROADS, without the need of sticking any hardware to your windscreen. It automatically charges from your bank account. Totally hassle free and I love it.
I am no fan of all these new screens everywhere, and why people think bigger is better beats me.

The german brands are no longer elevated enough from the rest of the competition in any aspect except price. I don't see much difference between the quality of this car and for example a Hyundai Tucson. I really don't. The chinese are improving at a rate of knots and pretty soon they're gonna exceed the germans in quality for a fraction of the price. The German car industry is done unless they start aggressively innovating again.

The main screen is a different shape than the tablet style passenger screen, and the information on these screens are small and cluttered. Black plastic, chrome trims, interrupting angles, chrome. There isn't much about this car that screams luxury to me, just competing ideas coming together unsuccessfully. The wheel design looks like it belongs on a base trim. Long wait for mediocre update.

The first face-lifted generation of Q5 is still the best looking. The one from 2013-2016 Q5. Beautiful all round the outside and plush high end material interior. They are super reliable as well and decent fuel efficiency 25 mpg. This is the same as the CRV of the same period but the Q5 is way more powerful and stable.

Screens, screens, screens. I don’t truly have a problem with screens in cars, but I am curious when the number of screens for the front occupants will stop going up. Also the blank 3rd screen on lower trims is a terrible joke, must be where they had to cut costs after re-implementing real exhaust pipes.

Not offering a moving map display on the instrument cluster is a huge miss (yes, I know there's a head-up display) - they used to offer this feature and now they don't Weird. And yeah, putting a non-functional piece of plastic for the passenger display if you don't select the option is weird too.

The camera tech is really cool. My main issue is those basic looking rims. I'm sure other version are available. But those look lame. I can live with the piano black and touch sensitive buttons. If it had a fully electric powertrain, few would care about that.

Those door controls are a mistake. It’s a small annoyance that you interact with multiple times throughout the day. Those annoyances add up and just does not reflect a thoughtfully designed luxury car (same with the button blank on the door handle. That’s too bad.

Is this really a full redesign It feels like a lazy mid cycle refresh that ran out of budget so they just slapped something together. I own the last Gen but nothing here got me excited to replace it with a newer one. The competition looks much better.

IMO, It would be much better if Audi did a coupe version and a usable version of this vehicle.
This way people who value style would have the style, and people who use SUVs for utility would have their trunk space and better rear passenger comfort.

Is the front end of the new Q5 different in different parts of the world I've seen videos reviewing the Q5 in Europe and I like the front end design of their Q5 better than the reviews of the US model. Is it because of different safety regulations

Horrendous - the decades of Audi pedigree out the door. The folks now leading the consumer vehicle operations at Audi, BMW and Mercedez have no respect for their own brands. It's like watching a computer with a Tron vehicle built around it.

Love our 25 Q5 without all the screens - AUDI literally destroyed a great car by adding so many large displays and tech - can’t imagine what the reliability is going to be and the cost to repair as these cars age.

those new Audi plastic texture reminds me GM Chevy cheap interior (shiny grain hard plastic it seems. Not sure if it looks as bad as it touched. I need to go to a dealer to touch it soon.

This incoming generation of Audis have possibly the worst interiors in the company’s history. Even the incoming Tiguan generation has a better interior than this new Q5.

Maybe Audi isn't just adding screens like Genesis, but actually improving driving performance and safety. All traits that are hard to quantify by just looking at the vehicle.

Its too soft and rounded, which is actually a cost savings measure. I miss the sharp radii crease that ran from the hood to the hips thats expensive to tool though

VW finally learned and went back to real buttons on the GTI wheel, but all new Q5 has them. How dumb. That blank screen placeholder on the dash is ridiculous!

Do any vehicles other than the Teslas have built in dash cams with all of these cameras I can’t find info whether this Audi does, Subaru’s eyesight, etc.
