Toyota is behind of the future making a vast amount of vehicles and doesnt improve their horsepower and torques is not going too go down well will customers and consumers, if the Tacoma is Toyota best selling trucks, they are in seriously troubles, because add a 3. 5 V6 with twin turbos to their longest developed SUV the land cruiser lc 200 model to created sales worldwide and their fantastic high price due towards poor sales over previously marketing strategy will make matters worse, because in Japan, middle East, Australia, some areas in Africa, Caribbean, the land cruiser lc200 should already have a much bigger engine with hybrid systems both in gasoline engines and diesel engines, the V8 Diesel 4. 5, should also already increased with much more horsepower and torques, all Toyota engines both gasoline and diesel engines need a totally revamping especially in horsepower and fuel efficiency and greater quietness.

Im too lazy to go back and look again, but did he forget to mention the new 10-way (I think) adjustable seat? Thats one of things for this refresh that actual Taco fans are excited about. Im looking forward to this one. The engine really doesnt bother me much. Reliability is what I want. Backseat? Fortunately for me, the only people that will sit back there are my daughters and my dog. Speaking of my dog sitting back there, the Tacos back seat folds down wonderfully. Have you seen the Rangers seat fold down? LOL Its just embarrassing. Bottom line is that each of the trucks in this line-up will work for some and not for others depending on needs. Fair enough.

Just test drove the 19 and wow was I under impressed I love the look of the Tacoma but after a test drive in the Off Road, I will most definitely not be buying this truck. Very poor visibility and Im 6 ft. Poor finish inside. The3. 5 was ok but is lacking in Torque in a HUGE way. Actually feels sluggish and like your driving a larger truck. Finisher was. I asked the dealer his best price otd. 51, 159 Are you FFFFing kidding me Toyota you lost my business no matter what kind of reputation you think your Taco has. I will still stick to my paid for full size gas sucker. I can buy a lot of gas for 51K And I can pay less for roomier full size.

Theyre making these small trucks too big. What made small trucks so appealing was the weekend, DIY home and garden projects. You needed something fuel efficient that could fill in when your daily driver was at the repair shop, and pick up mulch/plants on sale at the local home store, and transport lawnmowers, patio furnitures, etc, with enough ground clearance to hop a curb, if needed. Todays small trucks are more daily drivers, and midsize rather than small. Try to find a garden truck, these days. be prepared to look back 20 years.

We as consumers are welcoming other auto makers to join the fight against the Toyota Tacoma. After all, the competition between those auto makers will only make Toyota trying even harder to improve the Tacoma. But to be realistic, the Tacoma has been the number 1 medium truck in N. America in the past 14 years, with 50% market share while others just simply quit because their product just cant sell. I am happy to see the Tacoma continuing to improve and of course, it will be an up hill battle for the rest to dethrone the king: )

Can they just not make an off-road/work type truck anymore? I would love to have my old 5 speed back My 17 is taking some getting accustomed to, esp with a few upgrades. I buy an off-road vehicle and having to scrape money to save for an off-road suspension is ridiculous Screw the cameras and tsb junk and put better tires, suspension, and front elocker Doing away with the old entune is awesome though. But being out on some trails i know why I bought the tacom a again

The 2nd Gen. Toyota Tacomas were a good looking truck, the 3rd Gen. Tacomas are just Fugly looking, also most of the paint colors that they offer make me want to puke. Toyota needs to fire their Tacoma design team. Toyota is just not getting it, they cant compete with the Chevy Colorado ZR2 V6, 308 Horsepower. The ZR2 is the best looking, and performing mid size truck on the market now. Maybe in 10 years from now Toyota will wake up.

Alex, thanks for the review. I couldnt agree more. Toyota Tacoma changes move slower than a glacier. The 2017 model I had rusted in the first year, had a window seal that needed to be replaced and the shift programming was so bad the thing wouldnt stay in 6th gear on the interstate when I was in cruise So I bought a Ford F150. Yup The Future is Here but were still waiting for Toyota to arrive

Toyota really seems to be resting on their laurels with the Tacoma. We have two Toyota products in our driveway currently, and to be honest I think Id look elsewhere if I wanted a truck. The ergos in the cab are poor, seat too low to the floor for instance. Odd powertrain choice. Lots of complaints on Taco owners forums about the poor engine / trans calibration.

The 2GR V6 needs to be replaced. Its 15 years old in 2GR form and over 17 years old in 1GR form. Same goes for the 3UR V8 in the Tundra/Sequoia/Land Cruiser/LX. Toyota really love to milk their engine platforms. I expect the V35A-FTS used in the LS500 to be shoehorned in the truck (non-Tacoma) and SUVs. Also, the Tacomas 6-speed auto box is not great.
