2020 Hyundai Sonata First Look

As traditional mid-size sedan shoppers move more and more towards compact crossovers, the role of the family sedan in America has changed. The new 2020 Sonata is a perfect example. Love it or hate it, the Sonata is putting style before everything with one of the most distinctive looks in the segment. The next step for Hyundais biggest sedan in America will be performance variants with at least 275 horsepower so if you e looking for something to out-perform your neighbors Camry V6 or Accord 2. 0T, it looks like Hyundai is going to have something for you

Cool looking car that sets itself apart from all the other vehicles that look alike, Hyundai quality with their powertrain warranty is still unmatched, if other cars were truly as reliable they would offer the same or better warranty. I had a previous generation Sonata as a loaner from the Hyundai / Genesis dealer and it was the top of the line really nice version that was on par with other entry level luxury cars, just more reliable, I received a new transmission with only 3 miles left on my warranty and that was only because the torque converter clutch solenoid wasnt working even after replacement, the only way you could tell something was wrong was by the check engine light and a slight drop in gas mileage on the highway other than that it shifted smooth and was great, even though there wasnt any drivability problems Hyundai still stood behind their warranty. They are an excellent company to purchase a car from if you plan to have it for at least a hundred thousand miles or 10 years.

As streamlined is this new design appears to be the 2011 through 2014 Sonata actually has a lower coefficient drag. 26 vs. 27 in the newest one shown here) than this newer model has which I find that to be pretty astonishing. I still feel that the 2011 through 2014 Sonata is one of the best looking ones that theyve made to date I havent seen the new one in person yet but that particular bottle style the one that I mentioned I think will be timeless the only bad thing about it visibility isnt that great it looks like this one might be just as bad.

I hate the fact that he did not mention torque on either engine option and he also completely ignored that hideous license plate thing on the back of the car. Other than that the car looks great however the review is lackluster. People dont realize that Torque is the Important number but I would expect a reviewer to know that and therefore sir, you failed. BTW I have owend many Hyundais including Genesis 3. 8 coupe as well as others.

Alex, isnt polarizing a convenient euphemism for ugly? Incidentally, the vehicle behind you - the new Venue - isprobably the vehicle that Hyundai is going to sell in greater quantities than the Sonata. By the way, if you dont know what to think about the waythe rear of the Sonata looks, that means you dont like it. Because, if you really liked, it you wouldnt have to thinkabout it at all.

Why do most automobile journalists fail to mention that the big advantage of the smaller turbo is the max torque available from as little as 1400rpm? (as opposed to 5000rpm in the normaly aspirated engine. Max figures (especially hp)mean nothing in day to day driving where rpms are likely never exceed 3500.

These comments are very surprising to me. I thought this was a complete miss by them. The front end looks like a fish and the rear looks like a Civic, which I do not like. The push button shifter is something I dont approve of either. Looks like I wont be buying a sonata during this generation.

The exterior styling isnt really for me, but Im very happy to see Hyundai KILLING IT. Theyve worked hard and come along way. My old 2002 Elantra was one of the best cars Ive ever had, too (beat the crap out of it for 11 years and it was still in great shape when I got rid of it.

Makes no sense, families are expected to go with CIUVs this leaves the sedan for older folks and those who dont have kids and who carry friends in the rear, only now, they have to choose short friends, cause all OEM; s are shrinking the rear head room, no matter what size car it is.

I really like the design of sportback/gran coupes/ 4 door coupes/whatever you wanna call it. Its more practical than normal sedans and look much better. Yes, you sacrifice a bit of the headroom at the back but I rarely transport adults at the back so it doesnt affect me one bit.

Personally I love the styling inside out except for the tablet screen and the steering wheel design. I am glad Hyundai is taking a daring and exciting design. Its for sure so much better looking than the newest Elantra which doesnt look too good inside and out.
