2023 Nissan Altima Review A Few Tweaks Keep It Fresh

Brian gives the often maligned Altima a spin and came away impressed. For 2023 the bones are the same but Nissan gave the exterior a nip/tuck and grafted a. We infotainment system to the dash. Richard: LOL. My Maverick pickups, one at 24, 505 and the other at 29080 are a total bargain compared to these currently overpriced sedans. Our west coast gasoline at 5. 20 a gallon does not compare to 3. 39 a gallon where you are currently. You must have a new job to be living in that hell hole, where the streets challenge any suspension system and one must buy a new car every two years or so, due to the salt. Hope you are at least learning new things where you currently reside.

Why did they get rid of the foglights. Looks super cheap without them
Idk I'm just not sold on this. A Kicks or Rouge look much better. The Maxima looked nice but it was very expensive and is now dead
I'm just very surprised how automakers seem desperate to make sedans as unappealing as possible. Maybe the rest of the Nissan lineup is like this, but no other interior colors? Restrictive headroom, no connectivity in the back, no seat adjustment in the rear
And just a list of features they give crossovers that they don't here.

I wouldn t say this is a bad car especially with potential discounts and lack of markups. Nissan seems to have fixed their CVT problems. Is it less desirable than the competition? Probably, as my local Nissan dealer used to advertise how they have too much inventory and are able to sell cars at a discount. While the Toyota, Honda dealer lots are practically empty. If you re desperate, it s an option.

I have a 2022 Corolla hybrid, i had to rent a car for 1 week while the Corolla was in the body shop for a fender bender, the Altima was the option that The car rental offer me, i have to say the the Altima was the worse handling car that I ever drove after the Nissan Sentra. I really don't know how Nissan is selling cars.

I ve owned 3 Altimas in my life. 04 a 16sv and 19. The 16 had over 110, 000 miles on it when I traded and never one issue with the cvt. The 19 someone hit me in the rear and totaled. There really good travel cars. I m not here to fight the cvt comments. I don t care I didn t have issues with mines.

A new white Altima screams rental car. They're not bad looking for the segment (especially after the new Accord redesign, but their refinement, long term reliability and resale never justified the price IMO. Just pay a little more for a Honda, Toyota, or Subaru. It's worth it in the long run.

I actually like Nissan except for their one glaring flaw. That CVT is, and always will be, a deal-breaker. They took a step in the right direction by going back to a traditional automatic in the Pathfinder but they have a bunch of other models that are in dire need of the same treatment.

That s a a major matter of opinion. I wouldn t buy a Chrysler at any price. I wouldn t buy a Honda or anything else with a CVT. To me, those are bad options. Yes that s also an opinion I m sharing. But I don t state it like it s a fact. You are wrong on this one.

Frankly, I don't see any reason to buy the Altima over any of the other options, aside from maybe the turbo. Maybe not a bad car aside from the CVT, but there just isn't anything about the car itself that really stands out imo.

Didn't know they were still making these. I thought they died out around 2015? If you can get AWD and little four Turbo then it is not so bad. CVT does not bother me at all and there are benefits to it.

Rented an Altima SV and my god it was awful. From the small things like the door chimes to the safety sense equipment it all feels cheap. Spend you money somewhere else, or if your a Nissan fanatic buy a Rogue

The roads seem pretty chewed up but without any massive potholes. The Altima seemed pretty quiet even on lowish profile tires. I think CVTs are standard in Accords and Camrys now. Don't know about K5s.

Def the trans holds it back. I've had a 2020 Altima with the 2. 5Na. which is so slow. I now have the 23 vc turbo makes it feel allot better and subtle updates to front end. Overall I like it
reply

I think the front refresh looks lazy with adding black gloss black around the fake vents and the darn chrome strips on the edges of the grill. And still no LED taillights? Omg Nissan.
reply

Brian, Now that you are based in Detroit, will you consider crossing the bridge into Canada and repeating all the acceleration and fuel economy tests in metric?
