The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Is Sharper And Now Has AWD!

For 2024 Hyundai has added AWD to their family sedan and made the look a little less. catfishy than before. Thankfully they didn't drop the excellent 2. 5L turbo in the process, so if you want a performance sedan, this is going to be among the few mainstream options left.

What trim is this? I've seen other photos of the Sonata 2024, and it showed a different version of the tires. I personally don't like how these tires look, and I don't think they suit this redesign that well. Some of the other tires compliment the body of the car so well, but these ones don't, in my opinion.

Liking the new Sonata vs the prev design, looked like a cat fish front end. This better than Camry for sure. Also had a feeling they not AWD with more power engine. not sure why they keep doing this and have to fight the torque steer as well no fun in snow country without AWD.

This Sonata looks a lot nicer than the camry, looks alone this wins. Just hope that hybrid model gets awd, and keeping my fingers crossed for reliability, I do like what the Korean brands have been putting out in the last 5 years. Dreaming for a Stinger EV!

I love the refresh, which replaces that awkward roundness of the current model's front fascia. I also appreciate the updates to the cabin as well as Hyundai not giving up on the N-Line, since we no longer have an Accord 2. 0T nor Camry V6.

Nicely done. Kept the greenhouse unchanged, which was the best part of the design, while fixing the gaping maw and adding interesting and more modern taillights. The interior looks great, too. This is startlingly comprehensive for a refresh.

Looks like they took inspiration from all their other models to create this Sonata. The new Kona with the long lightbar across its face, the Elantra with the lightbar across the rear, and the pixels from the Ionic lineup especially

This looks SO much better. I was not a fan of the fish face. I did like the rear end, however. This looks good overall. That said, I'm really tired of everything being styled to look angry. Toxic design language.

That s a great option. I always gravitate towards sedans because these are more efficient than SUVs, specially at highway speeds. However, I was really impressed with the Camry but I know price wise is gonna be higher.

kinda totally gave up on toyota brand. price is going up insane with so many additional obviously greedy addon prices and other new makeup terms costs. This new vid helps alot for seeking other brands.

This looks good but doesn t look distinct among the rivals. The 20-23 front end looks great especially in the limited trim. I wasn t expecting to get so many compliments on my sonata when I purchased it.

Hyundai constant DRASTIC modifications to its design language just KILLS resale. Every 3-5 year old Hyundai looks old because the new one is so different. Not true of Honda, Toyota, Audi, etc.

This looks more interesting than the new Camry, but I'm not impressed with Hyundai's disposable powertrains and inconsistent warranty coverage. I would reluctantly choose Camry over Sonata.

How long till the engine catches on fire?
I was interested in buying a 2023 version, but all the recalls, theft, and insurance companies not covering Hyundai pushed me away.

Nice how these people can't even wait a few minutes for you to film. I like the higher spec models of the current Sonata, but this design is far less attractive to my eye
reply

The design language kind of reminds me of the Cadillac MK or whatever thst csr is called. It has that light bar in the back and similar front end.

Alex, thanks for hanging in there at the L. A. auto show; -) Is the FWD-only on the hybrid model a weight issue? Too many configurations? Or something else?
reply

great refresh Hyundai, well done! Did Alex lose some weight? looking great Alex! keep up the good work, can't wait for Sonata vs Camry vs Accord
reply

Camry for the hybrid model because it's more reliable. I dislike the front end on both the Camry and Sonata. Wish they would tone them down.
reply

That Sonata looks nice but for about the same price i would go with the Camry, I still have faith in Toyota's repuation for build quality.
reply

Can you also confirm if 2024 Sonata is gonna be last gen for Sonata series? I think I heard from my Korea friend saying that as rumor.
