The new Range Rover Sport SV is a wild car. It has possibly the broadest range of capabilities of any car on sale. Not only does it have all of the off-road ability that you'd expect from a Range Rover, it's also such a carbon-fibre wheeled, carbon-ceramic braked 626bhp V8-powered monster that Range Rover thinks it can hack it on a race circuit. So we tried it on both - off-road, on race track, and of course on the road too, which will be the Range Rover Sport SV's more natural habitat. This test is of the launch version of the car, the Edition 1, a limited-run variant that costs 185, 360 before options, and there are a few of those. So what's it to be, a Ford Ranger Raptor and a Caterham and a hundred grand change, or the new Sport SV Edition 1 Join Matt Prior as he tests the latest and greatest Range Rover. Full tech spec below. Enjoy. No One in there Right Mind Would Take One of these Off Road Ever Properly! For One Thing Offroading Destroys Tyres With Stones Cutting the Tyre Side Walls and Weakening them ! If You Then Go Fast You Stand a Very Good Chance of Ending up Upside Down in a Ditch, Never Mind the Damage to all the running Gear underneath.
If Your Rich and Want to Play Offroad Go Buy Something Like an Old Rangerover and Then Another Couple of Nice Cars But Dont Put all Your eggs in One Basket!

Externally its a definite step back from the previous model.
How you make a car look worse than one designed over 12 years ago is impressive. Combine that with a silly price and insurance issues and I suspect this will not sell the way the old model achieved.

185k! Is that to cover the warranty claim costs that will be coming a week after you collect it, or are they including 6 months insurance in the price
reply

will they use the hydrolic suspension in their other suvs Reducing body roll is no easy task without huge anti roll bars and control systems for them
reply

Gutted they ditched the home - grown 5. 0 V8 for something generic. I don't care if it's objectively inferior, it had its own distinctive character.

To me if you have specced with carbon fibre wheels & ceramic discs your just telling everyone your lacking brain cells on a thing that heavy.
reply

Mega off-road capability my ass. No clearance, high per road tires. Software does not equal true off road performance
