Just did a costing on the Porsche Australia configurator - basic single engine limited options - $AUD165, 000 - ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a fairly basic electric SUV.
Somebody is having a lend of us! I could have a Mazda CX-7 (in-line 6) for half that. Or if it's performance I want; a Ford Mustang GT with a 5. 0 V8 for $AUD70, 000 less. A Porsche badge is not worth that kind of mark-up.

Shame this ex-sports car maker has arrived at this characterless form - dealerships are already full of impossible to shift rubbish, they really don't need more of it. An excellent candidate for rock solid depreciation and for a Chinese badge on its bonnet: nobody would spot the difference.

I prefer paddles to control regen. When driving in a spirited way on a B road, I like to quickly dial in less regen and use the brakes to help set the car up for corners. I also like to use one-pedal driving in town. Having to reach for the screen would make the whole process far less dynamic.

I don't know if any of you Autocar guys read these comments, but what we need to know of an electric car, aside from how well it drives, is real world range, up-to 368 miles wltp is meaningless to owners because they are not likely reach that figure or anywhere near.

I own a Macan GTS, which I love. My wife calls it a sports car with a hatch back. I will NEVER purchase an electric vehicle of any type. I will guess that Porsche will have to continue to build a gas powered Macan well beyond the end of 2015.

This has the potential to fail - dodgy rushed tech (as per Taycan, aspirational client base needing good finance deals(ie good residuals) combined with the traditional Porsche excessive pricing/optioning. Can't say that they don't deserve to

Dont like the redesign. The old macan looks better imo. Plus its an ev so will depreciate faster than it accelerates. Just like the taycan i think they will struggle to sell at that price

Not to sound rude, but you look pretty short. The rear seats are unusable with 180 cm driver in front. This is sadly not family-sized SUV. Only the luggage space is good for families.

Perhaps I will like it more in the flesh as this colour and wheels really doesn’t do it for me at all. I feel these will be much better value as a used purchase.

Is the reason the facelift taycan and this macan much better with drivetrain tech because they part own Rimac and have access to their tech

Boring design of milk float. Not remotely interesting. Range ok but v expensive. Not one to buy unless you can cope with massive depreciation

I kinda feel bad for automakers. They’re forced to make these EV’s that although they’re great cars, a lot of consumers don’t want them.

What gets me is that Porsche think it’s ok to build a completely new car with what was an ok design. in 2012!
