Hmm. They give Sutcliffe PDK equipped cars more often that not as he loves autos, and the cars he drives are generally stuffed with aids and options I've no interest in. At Evo, they usually get manuals and more enthusiast-specced cars to try. No big deal, but it's something that puts these Autocar videos as also rans in my 'to watch' list.

Looking at this one front-on, and at the 918, it's hard to help noticing Lotus as inspiration.
For such reviews, would love less personal impressions (I get it, you're having fun. MORE detailed and deeper knowledge, history, insider information. I guess that means homework. Thanks, though. Nice to see it.

I actually think it looks better than an F type, and it probably drives better too. Being within the same-ish price range, the F type only really has the soundtrack going for it, but the Porsche just seems like the dictionary definition of a sports car, and Porsches sort of always have been haven't they?

Thank you, Steve! Great review. I have 997 Turbo manual tuned, which I do not even drive anymore since I switched to motorcycles, but out of all cars available on the market the only ones that excite me are Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS. I would go for Cayman GTS, my gt wants Boxster GTS. :-)

I had the previous 987 Boxter S, then went to a 911 C2S.
I always preferred the Boxter to the 911 simply for the top down wind in your hair fun.
Seeing this video has given me a huge Boxter itch again, and would you just look at the glorious weather outside today!

Nice enough but my BMW z4m every bit as good on a much lower budget then these. Additionally mine has had no major failures that these are renowned for. You need the $$, that aside, these cars from this era had a special magic that-s why they will never be well remembered.

Boxster is actually better than the 911! It suppose to continue the legacy of 550 Spyder.
Shame on Porsche! Made this model such a weak famine image!
I love this car, but I drive a BMW M3 instead of this -Women-s Porsche-.

I'm sure the heavy on the road feeling is because the Boxster had steel brakes and the Cayman had the lighter (and pricier) PCCBs. That's a significant amount of unsprung weight and rotational inertia.

If I lived in Mallorca (my girlfriend is from there) i'd take the Boxster GTS no doubt, that last bit of handling is irrelevant when you have nice mountain roads and amazing weather.
