However, the real differences between these two cars are suspension and brakes. The extra power isn't all that helpful when it comes to track times, but the new one's suspension doesn't get overwhelmed easily with quick, sequential turns. The new one can also out-brake the old one by a LARGE margin, and it's brakes will handle the heat from braking hard multiple times substantially better than the old one.
And even then, you can't ignore just how much of a achievement the original Quattro is for the automotive industry.

Back in the 1980s, we called them Kwah-tros, not Kwot-roes. Not sure when that change came about. Some time around the introduction of S-Line diesel dullmobiles I think. The Ur-Quattro is so iconic that Audi is -still- trading on the power of the name and image today. Styled by a bloke from Sheffield by the way, Martin Smith. Went on to design the Mk1 Ford Focus.

The old one is a magnificent car, a true icon, but it's interior is ever so dated. The A1 has a much nicer interior, and it's build quality is light years ahead of the original 1980s icon. Cars have come a long way, in thirty five or so years, and i recon the A1 would be a nicer driving experience, full of vital 21C toys we have come to expect in every new vehicle.

hey folks, do not compare the looks of an urQuattro to a budget A1. Quattro was an EXTREMELY expensive car. Retail price in USA in 1983 was 35K before taxes (regular FWD Coupe GT was 20K) and that is equivalent to 110K in 2017 USD. so u are looking at a audi rs6 price range. which is equaly beautiful.

Haha my lovely sport quattro, i was laughing of joy and also laughed because i knew that it was going to wipe the track with the new one. Remember that those 420 bhp was about the lowest they used for this car in competitions, they went up to just over 500.

Out of the two cars I'd still go for the original Ur Quattro. Looks better, sounds better and stands out with its 1980's brashness. New Audi A1 looks like a cross between an oversized Fiat 500 and a Vauxhall Adam.

I'll take the original any day. These days all German cars has excess ///M or S Line badges slapped all over the rep mobile versions which takes away from the true value. Keep it real guys.

I thought the Audi Quattro was based on the Audi 80 (the old A4) meaning this video should have been called: Audi A4 vs Audi Quattro. If I'am wrong can you correct me?
