Ford F-150 Review - Auto Express
video description
As for reliability, one is no indication of all. The air suspension of one of the Range Rovers most troubled area. Also noticed how the 3500 still makes use of leaf springs for greater payload. Also noticed how the maximum payload is just under half of what it is in the f150. Leaf springs are superior when it comes to towing

If you are truck, rear leaf springs and solid rear axles ARE superior. Not only are solid axles lighter, more durable and are less costly, they also provide more traction. Yes they are more choppy over uneven pavement, but the tire contact patch while cornering or under heavy loads is larger. This is because solid axles don't experience nearly as much camber as vehicles with independent suspension do. Leaf springs are superior to coils as they can support more weight without sagging as much.

I noticed how none of the examples you used are trucks and there is a reason for that. Coils are not equal to leafs. The factors that make ride and suspension articulation better make them worse at supporting weight. There simply isn't as much metal supporting you. This also reduces body roll, the majority of which in a 1/2 ton truck seems to come from the independent coil sprung front end by the way. As for camber, when you corner in a vehicle with independent suspension the inside wheels.

When wishbone independent suspension compresses, negative camber. This because the components rotate around a fixed point, making it so less of the tire is in contact with the ground. The same thing happens to the inside wheels in cornering. Forces are causing the tire to be sort of pulled outwards. And the outside wheels are being pushed inwards, which can be observed to a more visible state when in videos cars are pushed to there limits. However, because the wheels are attached to each.

Continued
. experience positive camber and outside wheels experience negative camber causing the size of the tire contact to decrease. Another thing to consider is that you can make a solid axle travel much more then independent suspension without causing any camber what so ever. This means you can put heavier loads on the back end of an f150 while maintaining more traction.
As for air bags, they have a nasty habit of failing over time, ask any Range Rover owner: P.

Im not convinced that this guy has ever driven a pickup truck before. In the US, having large trucks that are capable of towing stuff, carrying stuff in the bed and of course large enough, powerful enough, lifted enough, and 4x4 enough to brave the rugged terrain we have here, is very necessary.

I am a UK owner, living in Texas! My 5. 0 V8 is on 215k with a good portion of that done off road. Coming from 4 cylinder stuff the noise never gets old, the slow gear box and cornering that can only be described as comedy doesn't either! It is the Texas equivalent of a Transit, use it like one

How does raising a truck make it useless? Just because it doesn't spend most of it's time off road doesn't mean it's pointless, especially considering not having enough ground clearance can cause considerable damage to your vehicle, or simply means you can go no further.

Well silly is and useless are two different things especially, especially when it has a significant effect on your off road ability.
Also trucks that race are low because there designed for speed and durability, not off road capability.

Its safe enough in the bed. my mother off all people always puts her groceries in the bed of her Silverado. In rural areas there isnt much theft for you can be pretty certain all of your belongings will be there when you get back.
