Unfair comparison. The Porsche was as expensive as the Lotus with similar spec. Porsche has an options list as long as my. . And, seriously, the Porsche is a souped-up Volkswagen. The Lotus is a proper racing car. I test drove both when new in 2010. And ordered a Lotus. Loved every second of my 3- year ownership.

I loved the exige and the Elise they looked awesome, they handled amazing and they were small and super lightweight so they were proper sports cars. the Evora looks good and it handles good but it's big and has four seats and an engine from a Toyota Camry? Lotus should stick to small, light and nimble sports cars

I'm posting this before I see the Evora lap. I have to say: I don't care if it's slower (and I think it will be by 1-2 seconds) I would still pay more for that car over the Porsche because it's just such a beautiful car. I don't think Lotus has ever made a car that didn't take my breath away in aesthetics.

The Evora was actually quicker! The test driver can-t shift a manual as fast as a PDK, who cares about lap times in one of these type of cars, the -Fun to drive- factor is the Lotus any day of the week and I have driven both! If you want fast lap times go get a GT3RS!

5th gear tested both of them and the evora was way in front. The difference in results here is that the guy doesn't know how to drive manual and cant drive without driver aids which the porsche is full of and not the evora (which is a better car by far)

Interesting. I owned the lotus s sports racer and now own the 981 cayman s. The cayman would not have been 51k when options are included. The cayman is overall a far more accomplished car and as a package is a far superior. Both are great though.

so the light-weight mid-engined rwd British roadster is:
A) Heavier
B) Uglier
C) more expensive
D) more powerfull, yet slower from 0-60 AND on a track
not fair to compare a 2+2 to a 2 seater though.

Can-t believe I had a Porsche. Its ok I am in a Lotus now with a manual box and fell in love with driving again. Phewww. Both great but the Porker is much much duller to drive, depends on what you want.

This was in 2013 when automotive journalists were scared to ever put Porsche at #2 in any comparison. Thankfully that all changed by 2015 and it's ok to say other cars are better again.
