I have owned Mercedes, BMW's, Jaguar's, Land Rover's and Audi's all with decent service and at present I am on my second Maserati Ghibli. of which the sales and after service have been superb from (Graypaul Ferrari / Maserati - Edinburgh & Bowker Maserati - Ribble Valley) It was the reason I stayed with Maserati because of the sales & service (As well as the MY16 Ghibli being a big improvement to that of my MY14 Ghibli. What I am trying to convey is that I was worried moving from the German brand's to an Italian car - but I was wrong. the service exceeded my expectations and I hope Alfa succeed in converting the BMW 3 series / Merc C Class buyer with their beautiful Giulia.

Had a good look and sit in the UK spec car last week. If I were in the market for a compact executive car it would certainly be on my, very, short list. I have already looked at the new BMW 3 series and the Jag XE. The Alfa trumps them in most areas. It is appreciably bigger and better looking then the Jag and almost matches the BMW quality in all the important areas. It appeals as a drivers car and makes you feel special. The integration of the larger infotainment screen into the dash being a very nice touch. The bits you touch, steering wheel gear change paddles etc are nice to touch and feel good quality. For a lot of people the rear space and larger boot may well be a deal clincher.
Is it enough to tempt my wife and I out of our Alfa GT Cloverleaf Q2? Well no actually but then again neither would the Jag, BMW or Merc C Class.

Rented the car for 10 days. Had only 1000km when taken. I drove the car in Spain and Portugal and did around 2500km. Good Diesel engine, nice interior, however you can see that some parts are poorly fitted and assembled. The car drives great with good seating position and great feel around the corners especially being a rear wheel drive. Automatic is a bit jerky on low gears. Have noticed one very weird thing when max cornering and drive at a very very low speed (like 5km/hr) the car tends to slide forward as if the wheels where at 90 degrees. Other than that it's a good looking car at this price range.

Owned a 156 and Brera. Loved them both. Would take something special to get me back in an Alfa these days. The Giulia QV is a lovely thing but the most likely A$200, 000+ asking price is too much money for a brand well outside the Exotic Supercar segment.

Put any other grille on the Jag, or look at it side-on and it looks as bland as scampi and chips (without tartare sauce, or a 90s Honda Accord.

I like Alpha's but the rear looked like it's styling has been borrowed from VW particularly Seat and the alloys copies the Mercedes 20- E class although with more spacing in the spokes!

So it's goodbye to the beautiful subtlety of Alfa styling. Sorry James, I disagree - aside from the triangular grille, it's very much a clone of everything else.

If you absolutely want to put asymmetrical rims on a car, make sure to have them mirrored from one side to the other. Otherwise it just looks cheap.
