Well, just to clarify, BMW only updates their cars (not including facelifts) every 6-7 years for the 5 and 3 series, and it has been that way for ages. For an example, a 328i from 2012 with only 100k km still looks and feels up to date. This gives confidence when buying a new car, that the car you spent all your life savings on will be up to date for the next 6-7 years which is well inside the boundaries where most people keep their cars -5 years. Unlike with a Mercedes, where you buy a new car and a few years later a completely different undistinguishable model comes along and makes your look old, but with the lease plan most people get, its hard to keep up with the CONSTANT updates. Audi, well, those who always buy a new one, needs serious help and maybe eye surgery.

I have seen both the e and 5 in real life. This might sound off but the E class interior is really bland and immature. The big stretched digital dash is cool but beyond that there is nothing there. The BMW interior is much more dynamic and uses more interesting materials, shapes and the night lighting is less club (like the e) and more sophisticated. For example the lcd in the speaker housing looks like it belongs in a Rolls Royce. And as far as the A5, I think even Lincoln has surpassed them. Have to see the redesign.

BMW 5 or the Mercedes E?
BMW: exterior looks better, I love the front.
Mercedes: the interior of the E class is just incredible, other cars in the executive class are no match.
Still, after driving and seeing them, I wouldnt choose neither.
When you can choose the Jaguar XF, the eyecatcher, the rare executive car.

Interesting comment about the interior. As a BMW fanboy, I still think the E-Class has the most luxe interior and the A6 has a better -sport- interior. BMW seems somewhere in between. though I have to say that while BMW interiors have generally always looked quite bland compared to competition, they -feel- as good or better.

Come on Audi and Mercedes fans. What did you expect when the new benchmark and class leader arrives? Of course it will be better in every possible way than both the lesser brands. There is an actual reason BMW is Germany's nr1 manufacturer. Great cars. Do yourselves a favor and upgrade to a BMW.

The interior of the new 5 series is awesome. The E class interior is great as well! Their just different.
Honestly, their both great in different ways. BMW looks more sporty on the inside. Mercedes looks more luxurious on the inside
