New BMW M5 vs Mercedes-AMG E 63 S - which is fastest on track?

The comparison is more than fair because they-re priced very similar, performance slightly favors the AMG but it is also a 100 kilos heavier. The AMG is also 2 to 3 years older. I don-t believe there-s a base E63 in 2017/18 when this model was released. The M5 is newer and slightly more expensive. It now has similar tech to the E63S. I blamed BMW for not offering the Competition Pack F90 M5 from the get go as the introductory vehicle. They fell short with the base M5 and quickly counter with this model and charged an arm and a leg for it. So I-d take the Benz in a heartbeat performance/per$.
The base M5 performed great, it just got outmuscled by the E63S. But for all of you commenters complaining, The 2020 CP F90 M5 is more of a direct competitor to the 2020 GT63S AMG, not the 2018 E63S AMG.

out of these cars i finally got my hands on an AMG and my god. what a car. a tad heavy on the auld fuel but i didnt buy it for fuel efficiency. its a fantastic car, quality throughout.
Also i think the M5 pipes in the exhaust sound into the cockpit via the speakers. that for me put me right off the M5. but the exhaust note in the AMG is just that, what you hear and its a complete animal

Ok lets be honest the m5 is clearly the winner sure 0. 1 seconds faster then the m5 not a big diffrence but 9 seconds on the nurburgring for the bmw thats a diffrence. Bmw have always been faster on track and now it beats it on the straight in Top Gear. Imagine the competion which we got now and it crushes the e class. Mercedes need to step up their game!

Against the M5 Comp Mercs need the Black Series. E63 came first, then BMW released the M5, then the E63S and then M5 Comp and then the upcoming E63S Black. I mean both are so quick. It's just that Mercedes has always found ways to win where BMW has failed to, F1, DTM, GT3 unfair or not, Mercs is quicker than expected

At this point and this level of tech they're essentially identical cars. It all comes down to preference on looks & luxury & feel. Personally I'd pick the M5, just because I like how it looks.

Benz owner for years-must say tho-I respect both. Even within the S, I feel it would be an even match. Cleary you can see there-s someone else with eye glasses driving at different times.

Unfair test, should be the AMG E63 (not the S) vs BMW M5. If you are going to use the -S- it should be against the BMW M5 Competition-
