NEW Bentley Bentayga Hybrid review: Steve Sutcliffe\'s definitive verdict - Auto Express Francisco: You have various choices on the same group the VW Touareg R as the same power and much cheaper I reckon for the the price is the best option. The Audi Q7 60 TFSI E which is basically the same but more expensive. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid the same story but once again you go for a more expensive product just for the badge. Finally the Bentley Bentayga is simply a question of status nothing else. Conclusion according to the price range you get more extras, that could make the difference in handling but unfortunately you always will pay more. All of them are very similar in power and performance.

I really don't understand this need for a growling exhaust noise from a Bentley suv. Yes, in a sports gt car like Bentley's continental or an Aston Martin, I understand the exhaust note is extremely appealing. But an suv of that calibre is supposed to waft you to speed in a relaxed and refined manner. not sound like a boy racers modded vauxhall astra, growling and sputtering through a council estate. If you're sat in one of the most luxurious and fastest suv's in the world, then the only noise you should hear is quietness, perhaps the stereo, as you waft serenely to your destination.

The hybrid thing is just a way to get around the incredibly high taxes placed on normal engines. From the customers and manufacturers point of view it has nothing to do with the environment and all to do with losing as little money as possible to the greedy government. In Norway the W12 is almost double the price of the hybrid v6 due to taxes.

Some would argue batteries --------- will not save the planet, but we can ride along with the narrative as we are getting used to it but until Bentley like others catch up ready for 2030 compromises will have to do now, look at the sales figures of the hybrid Bentayga, Bentley customers seem to be happy with the temporary compromise

Bentley Bentayga Hybrid it's a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV, not a regular hybrid (that can't be recharged with electricity from a plug) as the name suggests.
The fact that the car can and should be recharged like an electric car should be mentioned at least once in the car's name, in the video's title and in the script.

Why do they keep making cars like this? People that buy them don't care about fuel economy, let alone the environment. The type of people who buy these also don't look at the cost of fuel when filling them up. Waste of time. Its just all a trick to get around the new city driving laws on emissions.

Personally, would only want the W12 in such a vehicle. Don't like the sound of the V8 in these, but that's maybe just me. And this hybrid powertrain is a 'nothing'. As far as a Bentley EV, I would hope it's a futuristic vehicle, rather than another Audiesque e-transplant job.

ZF's hybrid system sucks. They need to sacrifice some gears and make the electric motor much bigger to minimize gas engine use. Imagine this with the same gas engine but a 300 HP electric motor. It would be able to Regen more and go faster while using less fuel

Steve you-re focused on deep engine exhaust growl - that-s not what this is. The customer wants serenity and quietness as luxury especially in the interior. Like a Rolls. And cheaper than the V8 and W12 and partially EV. It-s a step stone to eventually full EV.

The chase for fake low CO2 numbers gives us heavy plugin cars. The solution is what Toyota/Lexus does with full hybrid system but nobody wants to take that road because that means they need to give up the performance models
