The Niro is really the model that kick-started Kia-s transformation into one of the leading brands for electrification adopters. And now, five years after its debut and with more than 300, 000 examples sold, it-s time for an all-new generation of the car, which goes on sale this month and starts arriving in customers- hands this August. The previous Niro was based on one of Hyundai-Kia-s older platforms, shared with the Ioniq. But that changes now because the new Niro - which will again be available in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure-electric versions - is the first Kia to use the latest generation of the company-s mid-sized K platform. Our man John McIlroy takes a deep dive into the design, interior, infotainment and practicality of the all-new model, to find out if Kia could have another hit on its hands

I have a Kia Niro Self charging hybrid. It's the worst Kia I have owned since I started owning Kia cars (sportage / ceed) 10 years ago. The climate functions are absolutley rubbish and doesn't save you any fuel. Something that one would expect from a Hybrid. On the other hand my sone who owns a Golf purchased nearly 8 months prior to my purchase of the Niro (September 2021, gets better mileage from a just a std petrol car. Kia engines a not economical. Only thing I can say about them is that they are mechanically reliable. in years of owning them I haven't had any issues, on that front. I must qualify that by saying I always had them brand new. My next car may not be a Kia as a result of my terrible experience with the Niro.

I am not sure what car designers are thinking these days. They are over designing these electric cars and it just results in a mess. This car is ugly from every angle. I can-t imagine how someone could buy this car and be proud to own it. And I don-t understand how the designers thought that this was a good design.

Genuinely nothing not to like.
Apart from the price, probably.
Really looking forward to a manufacturer coming to terms with making this class of car available to Mr Average, without a lottery win.

4: 40 the 'Green Zone Drive Mode' with the hybrid model is great, to reduce emissions in specific areas where you can drive electric instead! Great review, thank you for sharing! ---

This thing is a mess; arbitrary broken lines and meaningless details on a bland and unimaginative shape. All means and no taste.

Wish they would release the prices on the full electric ev and just prices of all power trains so people can decide on what to buy

Wow that's fugly. As a current Niro owner I bet MG garages are rubbing hands and offering up thanks to the Kia designers.
