This is a video showing a procedure you can use start to finish to aid you in replacing your front and rear pads and rotors on your 2008 Suzuki XL7. Scott: given lot of good advice there Eric O here in Tasmania ( Australia ) we don't have the issue of dealing with rust although with time all metal rusts as you know, think main thing we would deal with here would be people overusing their brakes, specially those driving Automatics. i follow you on YouTube along with ScannerDanner, his brother, Keith & of course Ivan, you all do a great job in explaining the ins & outs of the wear an tear on cars an how to fix or replace the parts if needed, keep up the great work cheers from down under.

Backgrounds kid working on a 1960 Rambler classic with my dad oh, we didn't have brake cleaner oh, we didn't have even a parts cleaner. It was strictly shade tree parking lot on base type of work and then it was the Home garage. We had a metal pan I don't know where my dad got it and we use gasoline or kerosene to clean stuff. The stiff paint brush or a putty knife painting on what the object was and what was being cleaned off. Gloves? What are those?

Derrick Hodges had commented about you trying PB Blaster. There was a study done on YouTube awhile back compairing PB Blaster with Liquid Wrench and it was found liquid Wrench out performed Blaster by far. I only use Liquid wrench in my shop for the following reasons and that is cost, and that comparison test. Also breaks down to what any person prefers. Tho I believe any penetrating oil does its job well. Just saying

Eric, your delivery is so much better today than it was back when this video was made. Your more personal style of today makes me feel like I know you. So glad you became real to us instead of the more stoic professional style you employee in this video. Two thumbs up.

when pushing caliper pistons back in I usually use the old break pad and a sea clamp. Works for me. I don't know if that's a bad way to go but an old timer taught me that.

I almost always use the air hammer to loosen rotors. I pray that the rear rotors come off without having to adjust the parking brakes so they clear the ridge inside.
