Thank you so much for your informative video. I'm just about ready to hook up my smoke machine onto my daughter's 2003 Dodge Stratus. The key points that I took away from your video is: 1. Where to inject the smoke and 2. What needs to be pinched off before attaching my homemade smoke machine. Now to leave thanks to the youtube video from who i modeled my homemade smoke machine from. It's kind of cool, because it also incorporates a calibrated homemade manometer that has a reference point for a 0. 020' leak. Mine will also have a calibrated point for a 0. 040 leak. These are the two leak amount points that should set off each of the two codes: small and large Evap leak.

0: 38. pretty difficult to video, hey Eric, a good tip is to get a laser pointer handy, one of the skinny beam low power kind so it doesn't saturate what you're trying to video. I wonder if you can even stick like a piece of scotch tape over it to diffuse and attenuate the beam to make the pointer play better with video and not saturate the surrounding pixels of the object of interest. Please experiment with that and see if you can get a nice demo effect going. Love these videos.

I have a check engine code on 2004 Dodge Stratus for a minor leak and with a home made smoke detector, and with the help of this video, saw very minor amount of smoke coming out of smoke detection pump. To be absolutely sure as to not order something that I have to pay return shipping for, do I need to replace just the pump? Many thanks for this video.

Great video. The hose that you clamped on the charcoal canister, when you say vent, is it the hose that goes to the unit that allows air into the system to fill the tank with air as gas is used? I see three hoses, I assume one goes to he gas tank, one goes to the front of the car to the purge valve, and the third is this vent you are talking about?

Ironically I saw a hole on my filler neck too and just got a small evap leak code recently too. Would have never thought that might possibly be the cause of it. Very helpful!

So I know that I have to replace the fuel filler neck on my vehicle, but the shop also said something about replacing the evaporative canister. Do you feel that is necessary?

Made my home-made smoke machine with a Halloween smoke machine and a couple of rubber hoses. Works well and cost about 35 bucks.
