Unbelievable! All that just to get a valve cover off.
I had a Honda and the maint manual says to change the the timing belt at a certain time. I too ignored this and paid for it. Blew the engine a few years later. Later Homdas finally went to timing chains and the problem went away.

Oh well Eric there goes another timing belt motor this is why timing belt Motors just don't add up how many times are we going to see this happen this customer with this Civic use another prime example that timing belt Motors if you're not maintained boy do you pay the price.

A friend of mine had the same car and when it happened to him i think if i remember the mechanic told him these engines are u none clearance engine. I dont know anything about these engines thats just what i remember him telling me the guy said to him.

But Hondas are so reliable, until they break that is, my 2001 lesabre 3. 8 has 294, 000 with original timing chain, my friends friend has an Audi at 100, 000 timing chain broke and there were two he said, God knows what damage that caused.

Bought an 88 escort cheap back in the day. Got lucky. I asked to test drive it. Owner started it and it died while we talked. I convinced him the timing belt broke and the motor was toast. From 2500 to 500. Fixed it that afternoon.

wrong head gasket thickness. somewhere down the road they resurfaced the head to much getting valves much closer.
I've never had a honda to recycle into guns. I should think you can at least get 6 to 10 pistols out of one.

So you should buy it and fix it for a spare car. btw do the Toyota engines (2. 4L) have a timing chain vs belt? Who makes non-interference engines. or with cam phasers is this part of the reason for valves into the pistons?
