we update the ECM using a Bosch J2534 VCI Interface Bill: Short as possible. I've a 2007 Dodge Caliber 2. 0L SXT. The money light is for a P2006 IMRC stuck closed. Based on your video I put a new OEM intake manifold in it. Two questions. The car is in Mexico. The local Dodge dealer in Mexico said that based on the VIN, the ECM can NOT be updated in Mexico because it was made in the US. I took it to the the local recommended mechanic that said he would update the ECM. I don't know how to verify that it was done. The local dealer said that the car won't function at all if I put a new manifold on without updating the ECM. (Computer) The car is now back from the shop and working fine.
Will the car work if the manifold is replaced without the update?
Do I need to take it to a Dodge dealer in the states to be able to determine if the computer update has been done?

Eric I have had same experience with programming. Been able to do Gm with no problem. Ford for the most part is easy unless you have to tear tag code and then it's a pain. If people didn't get rid of old pcm when purchasing new pcm it sure would make ford easier! The problem I am having is Chrysler. Guessing Chrysler doesn't work well on a laptop with other flash programs. From what I can tell it's Java related. Have you noticed any similar issues? Do you use separate laptops for the Big Three? Thanks and great videos! Been a Tech for 35+ years and still learn something new everyday.

hi Eric. just wondering, can you make your videos any sharper? i know you got it up to 1080 pixels but it's still looking more on the blurry side. compare ETCG's video quality for example. maybe youre overlooking a camera setting or a youtube setting for higher bitrate or your camera isn't capable of higher bitrate. or something. i'm not a camera expert. maybe someone could chime in on that. thanks, take care.

I think its easier to pull the cal id in vehicle and put the cal is or part number in the box instead of using the vin. Using vin will show multiple flashes like your video shows. Putting the cal id in will show exactly what the new number is and will only give you one result which is correct for the vehicle you are working on

Eric, I need your opinion concerning a Knock Sensor of an 07 Ram 5. 7 How does one know if its a true engine knock or just a bad knock sensor? I have never heard any knocks or abnormal noises from my engine. Can you help me? I'd bring the truck to you, but New York and Oklahoma aren't exactly next door to each other.

I was trying to flash a pcm on a RAM 5500, but I have so many problems with the java, some times I guess the java wasn't installed correctly or something happens and another times java blocks the calibration to be downloaded I don't know what to do, I'm using a windows 10 laptop 64 bits maybe that's the issue?

Have you considered the Drew Tech Cardac Plus 2? I don't do a lot of programming either but their tool seems much easier to use than the Bosch and they are always willing to help with programming. I use it for mostly GM, Chrysler, Honda, Bmw. Any issues and they have Happily helped.

What is different about the new intake, compared to the old? Can't the old one be cleaned up and reused again? Just clean the carbon build up and reuse. or did they make changes to the airflow? Or do they just want to sell you a new one, plus labor, I can understand reprogramming.

Great video Eric. As a computer technician I empathize with you! But I do like all the business auto repair shops give me now that they all need laptops to talk to cars. Not so long ago that was unheard of. Appreciate your knowledge being passed on to the masses.
