I had a similar issue with a 1999 Honda CRV EX-AWD. Like hell i was gonna buy parts for a 12 year old car in Toronto, especial since Honda didn't have the part at all and the best they could do was a tailgate, and online the part was like 150+ cos it's a common rust issue. So i cut off the little shaft that held the handle, replaced the handle pin with a long brass screw from homeless depot and threaded a nut on the end, peened over the end with a hammer in a vice and that was that. Never had an issue again. Feel bad for getting rid of that car it was trouble free to the day i got rid of it, 3 accidents too and not a single problem. Got rid of it in 2017.

I know it would hurt your business. But if I lived up there I would be doing a 3 year lease on a vehicle there is no way I would pay that much for a vehicle and hope its still road worthy when you pay it off

What do you think of the Dorman brake caliper bolts for Dodge front brakes? I used a pair to save my backside for a few months, but I did finally replace with heli-coil and new bolts.

I got Dorman blower servo from napa also parts supply Ontario next Hyundai dealer 50 bucks more worked. I iYelled at both now I hear you curse them also dam shit company.

would have been so much easier to use that grinder and cut a small slot in tailgate for longer bolt. not going to see it as it would be covered up by handle anyways

It's a pity some chemical solution to dissolve the rust in place couldn't have done the job. Saving a plastic jalopy from landfill should not be this laborious.

I use my Dremel with what's called a Reinforced cut of wheel to do precision cutting and it works great. The non reinforced type break and don't last long.

Dorman parts are great parts as long as they are sitting on the shelf at advance. The moment they come off that shelf they suck anyway good job and video thanks

I guess you should add whatever appropriate time it takes to remove that rear latch cover and lube those latch components every lube oil and filter change!
