I have a 2012 Chevy sonic and that spacer with the lock tabs that clips back behind the axle splines yah I found it loose rounded out and worn through on one side of the spacer and so this factory placed spacer some how must have not gotten seated good from the the assembly line anyways this thin peace of metal started to get caught up between the bearing and wheel speed sensor destroying the bearing magnetic tone ring and the wheel speed sensor both. So yah a 3 dollar spacer costing me 150 in parts. So thought I'd share that with yuh All. For some reason I'm having a hard time finding the spacer. Thanks GM! Lol Eric I'm thinking I'm gonna glue that spacer/locking ring in

This video gave me nightmares. I had a 2009 Aveo. If it weren't for the extended warranty, the car would have bankrupted me. It had more front-end repairs than oil changes. By the looks of it, the Sonic was no better. After the Aveo, I swore that I'd never buy a GM car, then they discontinued their cars. I wish that I bought a Hondoo Fit instead.

I can tell what year the video came out by the light he uses. Started off with a protected light bulb, with a hook and used AC power. Now it is a little wand with batteries.

I'm not a metallurgist but anyhow The Hub is just a few more bucks. Got a hub and bearing from RockAuto. Not a sponsor. My focus was just the same down to almost every detail.

That whole hub, bearing, and control arm assembly seems to be designed to be challenging to service. I guess those cars are intended to be largely disposable.

Nice work man!
You have all the tools dude.
When I worked on cars and did a ball joint, all I had was a jack and a bunch of grief with my persuader.

I never realized that there was so much work involved with the removal of a front axle bearing. I guess this job is a 1, 000+ job.
