Plymouth Prowler: Fuel Pump Replacement larry: Great job for the both you. I have had to source many odd size O rings, Square cut o-rings, quad rings. Have Industrial o ring come to your shop and tell what you need to and maybe able to buy a small assortment. Some material's do cost more but last far longer. I witsh I could bring my 97 Dodge Ram 5. 9 engine auto be with 509000 miles on original engine. Little to no rust. Power of synthetic oil and maintenance

Looks to me that YOU (not the new fuel pump) actually fixed the fuel pressure loss problem with your replacement O-rings (which weren t even included with the new fuel pump. The old fuel pump was working fine, but was leaking back-pressure through those damaged old O-rings (there s your problem, lady. All the repair job actually needed were the two new O-rings, along with your excellent diagnostic and installation talents. A new pump wasn t really needed at all. Prowler owners with this identical problem should consider this video seriously, and first carefully inspect their old fuel pump for the two flattened, leaking O-rings before buying an entire expensive, rare prowler fuel pump. Simply replacing with new o-rings should be a cheap DIY fix. Dr. K.

Sure is a very very very delicate process unhooking and re-hooking things! I could feel my tension as you and Mrs. O. were fiddling with them old plastic tabs! She needs more practice pulling on it to get it out! Work on that with her, Eric! Great diagnosis and removal / installation! Don't want to do that kind of a job except every few years. Bent pins, hook thingies, wiggling, pulling, and putting it back in sure isn't easy when it gets old! Be sure to use new rubbers always for a tight good fit! What a nice dealership that doesn't want to help you and more or less tells you to hit the road! SMA will go down in history in Motor manuals, Chilton manuals, Haynes manuals, factory service manuals as the one who always got it done!

I respect your wife for getting in there and helping you with that stinky electrical connector, her hands must have stunk for hours afterwards. I'll give Chrysler kudos for having an access hatch over the pump, at least you don't have to drop the tank. My wife's Kia fuel pump gave problems twice. Had the fuel pump replaced once and took a look at the old pump, seemed to be a bad electrical connection on the pump inside the tank. Second time it was the electrical connection outside the tank. Fortunately it has an access hatch and I was able to replace the connector myself. It's been running fine since.

Good to know that even cars driven just 500 miles a year have major problems! Prowler - another brand submits to the power of Eric!
Also, the video cut out while Mrs. O was helping you, FYI, it didn't sound like you were repairing a car! But repairing was confirmed upon further review!
Finally, remember, in war, there will be casualties!

The thing about those plastic rings that never want to screw back on is that you have to start them and then as soon as it cocks, which it always will, just put the heel of your palm on it and press down hard. It will click and then you finish screwing it down. I know. I don't get it either. I have examined those threads thouroghly and all I know is that they never work without convincing persuasion.

5am daughter rings me, dad I didn t take out the breakdown cover you gave me money for, can u come get me. Turns out her 5th friend sat in the middle rear seat that isn t a seat (it s a 4 seater) and busted the fuel feed pipes off the pump (she s a big un) anywho I had the same issue what a pita trying to get it off and back on and not destroy the ring and yes I had the removal tool.

I don't do Chrysler! Won't buy one, won't work on one. My last one was a 1988 Dakota that would blow a clutch every 15, 000 to 20, 000 miles. Traded it for a new F 150 that had 250, 000 miles before I put a clutch in it. Found out later that the dealership had a service bulletin that the bell housing was warped from the factory and never replaced it!

I have had a lot of eBay parts for my 2004 dodge and I have had pretty good luck so far I have had a hard time finding stuff for my 1980 car but I am pretty good at making close enough to work out for it as a machinist I can just make a part for it if necessary also I am slowly learning how to use a 3D printer for all the plastic things I need
