I have a 2012 ford fusion same setup 81 or 89k miles. AC on and in drive and it constantly vibrating on and off. Driveway on a slight hill and going into gear makes then engine move very noticeably. When under factory warranty engine was even taken out to do a rear main seal in which the clown broke the flex pipe. Anyways after seeing this video, I am thinking the transmission mount looks more obvious then possible other or both. Should I do both or just this one, assuming I need to? What brand is the one you got?

Again, another shop just throwing parts on it and charging the customer. And then walks away from the problem. You diagnose and find an obvious issue which is the cause of the main issue. Gees they could have afforded new ball joints if they hadn't wasted their money on unnecessary parts. Shame on that other shop. Way to go Eric O.

axle problem! likely inner axle, but possibly outer. front drive autos rarely have mounts that cause shake while driving. mount will cause vibration while idling and clunk when engaging gears especially from R to D. mount might fix it as it will cause axle bind in drive while acceleration. might be lucky fix.

I would recommend replacing the battery box. Batterys not mounted securely kills more batteries. Customers would wonder why they keep needing their batteries replaced. I suspect some mechanics dont even inform the customer and if there's a accident! Possibly the vibration did the battery box in?

wat you could do to show the vibration is get a clear peanut butter jar and fill it halfway with water before putting the lid on, then set the jar on the dash and point the camera at it, should work fine on a smooth road
water and oil like a lava lamp could slow down the movements

Hey Eric. Ive used Shimmy Diagnoser to show vibrations. Its 40 bucks I think in the AppStore. You can at least show a before and after graph. Good way to show evidence. Thanks for your vids and diagnostic teachings!

I had a 07 rav4 drive shaft went Toyota new 1400. 00 rebuilt 650. 00, I went to a rebuild shop got it for 325. 00 with exchange. It might be nice to remind the people to go to the Sorce for best price.

Saw online rockauto there are hydraulic and gas engine mounts. What is oem style? Thanks for pointing out the one brand sucks as that was what rockauto has. If I do the jobs I will go napa.

Another way to test engine mounts is to place a jack underneath the engine and apply just a small amount of upward pressure, if all the vibrations go away it's the engine mounts.

For the vibration demonstration, find a vibration sensor and run an FFT on it's output to separate the frequencies and their amplitudes. Then see what pops up when you feel it.
