Sell your car for free with Carwow: Four of the hottest crossover SUVs you can buy are about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile! We’ve got Mat in the new MINI Countryman JCW, and he’s lining up against a BMW iX2, a VW T-Roc R, and an Audi SQ2! So let’s see how these pocket rockets compare. Starting with the MINI, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that can put down 300hp and 400Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 1, 735kg. If you’re looking to pick one up it’ll set you back just under 40, 000. Alongside it we have the all-electric iX2. It comes with dual motors that combine to produce 313hp and 494Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 2, 020kg. Not only is it the heaviest car here, it’s also the most expensive, costing around 51, 600. The T-Roc R & SQ2 are built on the same platform, so as a result, their performance stats are pretty much identical. Both are powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo, and both produce 300hp and 400Nm. Both are equipped with a 7-speed gearbox and four-wheel drive, although while the T-Roc weighs 1, 575kg, the Audi is slightly lighter at 1, 535kg. The Audi is also just over 1, 000 cheaper than the VW, costing around 44, 100. So will it be an easy win for the all-electric BMW Or will another car snatch it There’s only one way to find out. LET’S RACE!

19: 24 Please can someone tell me that Matt was joking about the BMW wobbling it's rear wheels to make it feel like it's straining at the leash Please say that isn't real, especially from normally very sensible but also very high performance, very high quality, very driver focused and no bollocks/BS BMW
reply

Matt I have to disagree on this one that mini is absolutely basically a bmw parts bin car VW and AUDI are the 2 best cars there mini and bmw are shocking over priced and looks like a wheelie bin on 4 wheels
reply

Oh my god, what is the point of launch control if it is hidden so deep in the software That's rubbish.
Edit watching further: What is the point of it, if it does NOT work relaibly.

Interesting to see how an electric car with equivalent horsepower to a gas motor compares in a race. Not quite as dramatic when the electric car has an obvious power lead

So A friend of mine just paid 8k for a very clean Clk Amg 55 coupe with a remap. It is quicker than all this lot on the quarter. Very expensive for not a lot these cars.

Man these videos are starting to suck. Matt can not take a loss so he just wastes time changes cars cooks up weird races. And no matt you never play fair
reply

The description says the MINI has an 8 speed automatic gearbox. That was true of the previous generation. This one has a 7 speed dual-clutch transmission.
reply

The previous generations of the mini had pops and bangs from factory with the jcw. Mad how they've taken it away but kept it with the speakers
reply

That Mini gives you that emotional damage feel especially when you think it pops and bangs on the outside but it doesn't and only does it on the inside.
reply

The Mini is very ugly inside and out. The BMW is very ugly on the outside. The VW and AUDI are just beautiful. Let's see the results on the track.

That Countryman is an absolute abomination. Dreadful thing.
Then again, they’re all boring, soulless, generic SUVs car scene is dead.

Yanni is amazed that the T-roc has an Akrapovic exhaust. Wait till he finds out my Clio has an Akrapovic exhaust. Lambo perfomarnte who
reply

Sh1tbox challenge! That BMW with vibrating rear wheels and bearing the slowest car on the track just sum up where BMW is these days.
reply

Holy crap that mini and ix2 are ugly. I would not drive these event I would get it for free, sell and then buy something else.
reply

I think Mat is realizing the most entertaining part of the drag race is before it starts, unless its some serious supercars involved
