I've gone uphill in the snow around AWD cars with my rear wheel drive M5 with full snow tires. They most likely just had all season tires. There is also a big advantage with snow tires when taking a turn or braking on snow packed roads. I once slid downhill in an AWD SUV that just had all season tires. Summer tires are obviously even worse in the snow. Actually I would like to see a test between a rwd vehicle with full snows vs a AWD with all season tires.

I live in WA State. The title is straight facts. But also the suspension and manufacturer matter. I hated my Subaru Impreza AWD but love my Mitsubishi Outlander SEL AWC. AWC/AWD is a must for hiking and snowboarding and other activities here.

I hate Bridgestone regardless. Can’t grip the road in today’s higher torque cars. Put some on a Wrangler after trying and hating on cars and no go.
