The new. Washing Machine! It's good of them to label this with a big clear sign on the back as a Peugeot. Peugeot isn't just a make of car these days, it describes a style of driving. Very slow, random braking but also breaking the speed limit in 30mph zones. Peugeots are made by many manufacturers - inc MG, Renault, Citroen, and Nissan. The Nissan Juke is a top Peugeot, as are all MGs, and Renaults with their Disney bad-guy names like Captur and Kadjar and Push-chair looks (the evil Kadjar is plotting to Captur the princess Jasmine. These cars are bought by people who have zero interest in driving. They operate their Peugeots like they do their food blenders, washing machines and microwaves. This thing looks like a total dog's dinner, with aggressive shite all over, and wheels by the B. B. C. Blake's Seven props dept from the 70's but takes 3 business days to reach 60mph. This is the new Peugeot vacuum cleaner. If cars say something about the personality of the driver, this says meh. More rubble on the road.

It’s a lovely car, even with the facelift. What do you expect from a small 1. 2L inline three-cylinder engine It’s certainly not a sports car. However, it’s agile enough while offering low fuel consumption.
As for the PureTech engine, the old version no longer exists. It has been redesigned and significantly improved. The new engine is equipped with a timing chain instead of a timing belt and is paired with a 48V electric motor integrated into the e-DCS6 gearbox. This setup improves fuel economy, reduces the load on the engine, and provides a gentle boost when accelerating.

Yes, the 408 isn't the best car for the price, but the video was very critical when there's still a lot of good things about it.
Also why are you saying the new 408 when it's clearly just a facelift They did the same with the 308, and with the 208 like a year ago.
Why then make a video only on the 408 like I don't understand

There's no substitute for a test drive and forming your own opinion.
Having no rear window wiper is a bit of an issue.
I have a Citroen eC4 which also doesn't have one. Apparently it's to save weight, to maximise the BEV range, so Im not sure why a petrol or hybrid version doesn't have one. It's not muchbof a problem except on treated wet winter roads when the rear window can be obscured after around 70 miles. I would be surprised if the next gen of these cars doesn't have a wiper.

peugeot citroen etc truly good cars but lack acceleration and will sway on bends due to unoptimised suspension and infotainment is always just basic and bit laggy but if you're ok with that it's a perfect car! if you need more kick then get bmw mb or just tesla but that's less comfy suspension but what peugeot is doing well is at least making exteriors and interiors look super poshy making it seem like there's more to it that it is, and it works! i like i like

Wait, the back bumper is not painted and sticks out and you are annoyed about that I bet EVERY driver of this car will love it because of these features. The trend to painted bumpers in line with bootlids is horrible when you ding something. The bootlid is easily damaged while a bumper which sticks out can prevent that. That just shows that some car journalists are a teeny tiny but of ouf touch.

I own and daily a Peugeot 607 from 2002. It beats this one in every possible way. 2. 2, NA, Petrol engine with a little tweak to it. Beats the looks, speed, basically anything you can think of. I hate to see not only Peugeot but all car brands going blend and tasteless. Mine has class and looks. I wouldn’t even want to own this one even if Peugeot paid me to do so. That’s my two cents.

at the beggining i also thought there is no REV counter, but there is. you just need to configure it through settings. dash display is fully configurable, and you could have 4 or 5 setups configured for different preferences.
at the end, i didnt want a chinese, not yet. and there are skodas everywhere.

I think I'm too Norwegian for this, I wasn't aware that Peugeot made an petrol version of the e-408. Why would you put an old fashion engine in a modern car anyways Both the e-208 and e-2008 are selling quite good in Norway to be a French car, but they are too small for me, the 408 is perfect tho!

honestly Matt, if I were Peugeot I would complain, even when you say good it sounds like it's not and bad sounds lower than bad. You have more respect when you test Audi, Vw and Germans. It is good to be critical, but I got a feedback that this car is like Tuc Tuc. I use to love your tests.

The indicator noise can be changed in modern peugeot's, there are 3 or 4 options hidden in those menu's for the indicator bongs. Also im pretty sure you can also get a rev counter option, again - hidden in menu's. These are the kinds of things a reviewer should be investigating.

9: 45 in Kodiaq it just applies parking break itself. It is so good, even if you stop and car is in D in a moment when you open the door it put car in P and apply parking break. Smooth, logic and without this annoying sound. Why Peugeot didn't do that

I miss a proper handbrake and real buttons and knobs to control everything. All this automatic handbrake, ding dong dash noises and touch screens just make me loose interest in driving. I dont mind the cheap plastics on door cards easier to clean.

is something wrong with the sound on this video Matt sounds really mumbly and I can't really hear him until he starts yelling, the quiet parts are really indistinct. Also grooming bit of a scruff on this one - haircut and a shave is in order

My problem for that car: Why you try to show up WAY cooler that you really are: D! If car look like that, give it some awesome motor and 4wd. You could do the ECO version (lame, but Peugeot, do powerful version if you try to look cool!

If you sit higher you might be able to see the instrument panel. And BTW your steering wheel is too high. Have a look at your video. Looks like you are sitting on the ground and you have the steering wheel as high as possible.

Peugeot had some brilliant ideas some years ago, that canceled out with the ridiculous low placement of the the steering wheel.
And now, every year, they keep ruining those former brilliant ideas little by little.

These are an absolute used bargain. I bought a pre-facelift, 8 months old 2k miles plug in hybrid GT for not far off 50% of list. It’s been a brilliant car, interestingly different, not too annoying, and fun to drive.
