I have the Golf GTD and I've rented this car too. I don't like where Audi have placed the buttons e. g. Near the handbrake so when you want to press them you have to look down and it's really dangerous. Yes after a couple of months you will learn but I personally don't like that. Also you feel squashed in the driving seat. Compared to the Golf GTD it's soooo much smaller. I also think it's rather boring inside. The Apple play system is brilliant, you can even connect your phone on google maps and this will load up on the screen whilst driving. Really surprised by this. Anyways good luck on what you decide to choose but in my opinion go Golf GTD -

Having lived with a Mk 7 Golf over the past few years, I can say I am looking forward to getting the A3 with its lack of a touch screen. Almost all new cars can be purchased with a touchscreen on the centre console but unless you're stationary, using the touchscreen is a pain. However with the A3 there is no reaching over and trying a thousand times to press the screen in the right place. It's just sit back and press a few buttons and swivel the knob.
The one good thing about touchscreen is you don't need lots of buttons which is good for small cars. But the Golf is not a small car and has the space for the buttons like in the A3.

hi Matt. I received a phone call from carwow and i think it was you unless there is another Matt. Anyway i registered my interest on carwow for an A3. i did get a good few offers but not good enough. However i have found one with a dealer and going ahead with it. I was not sure about which one to go ahead with but when i saw the comparison video of the 3 German rivals i was sure about it. So thank you very much.

Agree with few points. S line with sport suspension gives a lot of tire noise inside. Auto gearbox is generally great although car isn't so smooth at lowest speeds, not sure if this is more due to gearbox or brakes. Seats are fantastic. Car is super easy to drive, but the flat bottom steering wheel annoying

Is the car really that cheap in the UK? 32. 000 pounds, that's just 36. 000 EUR. Mine cost more than that and seems to have less extras. (no leather seats, no virtual cockpit, for example. Can you really get an A6 for that little money in the UK? I think it starts about 43. 000 EUR here in Germany.

Looks sweet but im gonna pick up the 2017 Golf instead. Quality inside doesnt feel that much different.
Love the audi LCD center screen but hate the smack on one in the middle (hate that on all cars)
Golf has it in the console and i like that.
Golf is cheaper as well.

Question:
I am looking for a car with:
-Diesel engine
&
-DSG / DCT (dual clutch)
Right now, I have a Ford Focus Mark 2 hatchback with 2. 0 liter diesel and Powershift.
Is the A3 Sportback similarly-sized? Or is it smaller than Focus Mk 2?

The idea of a hatchback pretending to be a station wagon makes this car pointless. And that 3rd side window makes it very ugly, alongside the cargo bars in the roof. Get a Golf Variant for about the same money and you get the practicality you need.

Does anyone actually get an Audi with an automatic anymore. The S tronic is amazing to use and if your going to pay a premium for an audi rather than a volkswagen, you probably not going to want to have a manual
