-DON'T BUY THE DIESEL MANUAL BOX VERSION - There is a known defect with the clutch master cylinder and your clutch pedal -will- fall to the floor over time--
9 months ago we bought a 16 plate astra diesel, Elite trim level. My BF and I have been driving Astras for 25 years and they have been outstanding, reliable and a good all-round car to have. But the Astra K will be our last. There is a known manufacturing defect with the diesel manual box version where the clutch pedal will go to the floor and not come back up. Returned to the dealership to replace the clutch master cylinder and elbow and went alright for a few weeks. then the clutch pedal went to the floor again. Not good news when you're in the middle of busy traffic. Unreliable, we are disappointed with Vauxhall with how they dealt with this known problem, and it took weeks for the garage to sort it out. Also, whenever you started the engine, it always sounded rough and clunky and just terrifying to hear. All this and the car had less than 50k on the clock. We've just sold it and bought our first Ford. Brilliant cars.

I loveee opel cars, the driving experience is so good. I-ve owned a 2015 Corsa 1. 0T 5dr 85kW, was the heaviest in its class but was very energetic to carry its own weight and 5 people and the boot full going over inclines smoothly, I wish I could say the same about the lazy Kia Rio and i20. Also was smooth and quiet with loads of features. I loaded all optional extras such as blind spot monitor imagine that in thin segment and in 2015 and auto parking assist, reverse and parallel parking I loved it and called it -my attention seeker-- and many other features such as auto stop start, hill start assist which were I think were std features. Big value

Ive had one of these sri Astras from 2016 i will not be getting another one in 2019. best bit the 1. 6cdti engine 136bhp does do 62mpg. but is rattly on start up from about 4k miles. the interior starts to rattle at 7k miles and now mine has 27k on it when cruising at 70mpg sounds like a wind tunnel. my weekend toys. mk1 cupra r and c32 amg merc do not rattle like this and they have just covered 100k and barely any noise while cruising at the same speeds. if you got the money go get a golf or something the build quality a little later down the line is far better. thats my personal view of actually owning one longer then 15 minutes

My Astra k has done 9759 miles it has a knocking noise from the front when driving, when pulling away there is a delay of 1 second before power kicks in, anti collision control always alerts on everything, when in second gear and you take your foot of the gas the car just keep driving with a spike in the revs. and the noise from the chain is louder than the land rovers and it's 17 years old. Onstar does not work in remote areas of the Scottish highlands. Vauxhall have booked the car in for 4 days to have the car repaired under warrenty.

Hi Mat! I love watching your reviews and I want to buy a hatchback (I live in Sweden, but I just cannot decide. I want quiet car since roads in Sweden can be horrible, somewhat fun to drive and that has a decent interior. So. what should I get? I like Mazda 3 a lot but I fear it might be too noisy. Golf seems nice but its pricey while Leon/Astra seem like a really good value cars for money. I have tested Civic too but that rear end is just about to ugliest thing I have seen in my life. Let me know what you (and rest of you) think.

The most confusing car with too many engines to chose and all are not that good. Torsion beam primitive suspension in the rear, and no value after just 3 years. Mazda 3, Corolla, and Civic offer much that makes sense with 2 or 3 engines in 2019 and they are all damn reliable. Less option of engines means better trusty engines. For instance, Corolla 1. 8L was used since the 1980s and constantly improving to perfection.

GM took power from Opel to license and sell them as Chevrolet overseas after WW2. In a few words, GM didn't know how to produce good cars back around 1945. I remember the Opel K180 and Opel Rekord were beyond Chevrolet technical possibilities around 1980 when these cars were imported to Argentina. We were still producing and driving big Nova's with 230-/250- inline six. What a leap ahead.

The best Astra ever, but I cannot say the same about their warranty. I bought the intelligent lights, which are great when they work, and that's part of the problem I've been going through for some six months now! The lights will start and stop working whenever they -want-. Next time I buy a car, I don't think it'll be a european one.

I-ve got one it-s horrible it-s uncomfortable, very noisy, not well put together, and had bad electronics, and OnStar is no longer I can-t wait to get rid of it. Oh and the best it has lost ridiculous amount of money bought for 20000 3 years ago now worth 7000 trade in 6500. AVOID at all costs

Good review mate! I bought mid year 2018 release of this car recently. It-s s real beauty to drive and own - Agree and recommend buying one higher spec version than base which comes with AEB, lane assist, etc. 10/10 this car. Opel have taken things up a few notch with this! Impressed!
